What can Minnie be short for?

My brother's just had a baby. She didn't have a name so they started calling her 'mini' as she is small. Which has turned into Minnie. Which they are now thinking of as a name, but it sounds a bit too nicknamey on its own. What could it be short for? Minerva?

I can think of Minnie Mouse and Minnie Driver who have this name but not sure if it is a shortened form of anything or name in its own right.

Definitely 'vagina' I'm afraid. Tell them not to.

Yep Minnie definitely a name for fanjo's where we live. I only found out when I told DD & DS they could join the Mini-Club on holiday and they broke down in a fit of laughter.
Merina (coil).....is something that springs to mind when I hear Minerva

Ha ha hope they don't call her Mirena! I bet someone somewhere has!

Glad a few pps have pointed out the private girly parts connection!

Girly bits here too.

Namehanger · 18/05/2016 20:47

PuppyMonkey · 18/05/2016 20:51

My granny was often known as Minnie and her real name was Mary.

PuppyMonkey · 18/05/2016 20:52

(She was very small though Grin)

Ludways · 18/05/2016 21:09

Minnie is short for Minge in these here parts.

GreenBeans17 · 18/05/2016 22:36

I think Jasmine is your best bet!

imabeautifulfennelcalledjoan · 21/05/2016 06:34

Our Marianne is known as Minnie by her nearest and dearest. She's now four and prefers the full Marianne though. We love the name although I do now feel for her having to learn to spell it.

frobskottle · 21/05/2016 13:12

My friend is called Minnette nn to Minnie

Mummyme87 · 22/05/2016 16:03

I love Minnie as a name on its own, but love the idea of Araminta or Jasmine nn Minnie. There's also Yasmin too x

Shesinfashion · 23/05/2016 21:01

Minnie sounds like an old ladies name. Is it short for Margaret or Mary?

frenchielala · 24/05/2016 12:25

I went to school with a Minnie and that was her name, not short for anything. I actually like it, she was about 5'10 though which she often got comments about 'not being that Minnie'.

summerwinterton · 24/05/2016 12:34

My daughter is Jasmine but nickname is Minnie. And no lady parts connotations here at all.
