I just remembered Merle (sounds like Pearl with an 'M')

There was a beautiful actress called Merle Oberon:

What's odd is that I was going to suggest Estelle and when I looked up Merle Oberon I found out her name was Estelle Merle, though she went by Merle ... She was an actress in the 1930s-early 70's, I think, and played opposite Laurence Olivier in Wuthering Heights in 1939.

I'm pretty sure Merle is French for blackbird.

I think it's pretty, has a nature feel about it due to its meaning...only if only you know and is only one syllable. Estelle is lovely too. It is also French, having its roots in Latin: stella means star.

That sounded bossier than I intended. I meant that I've got quite excited about the names in this thread and would love to know the ones that were along the right lines.

O lord, I'm going back to the drawing board my OH still isn't keen on the ones here he already new about and the couple of new ones. We finally had a chance to chat through. I do get what he means though on all counts, just so difficult not knowing.
