SadSadSad

We narrowed our list down, to a handful of names, the day I had my first scan. I assumed we'd have a name picked, by the gender reveal scan - I was very, very wrong.

He is 6 weeks, tomorrow (that's when the registration appointment is booked, too) so we really need to have 'the one'...

We have tried using each name, but it just didn't help. I thought he'd suit one more, but nope - I now need some 3rd party advice! Wink

Our list is:

  • Aidan
  • Charlie
  • Ciaran/Kieran
  • Elliot/Elliott
  • Louis/Louie
  • Matthew
  • Noah
  • Oliver
  • Tommy (Thomas on BC) but I'm not completely sold on Thomas...

Maybe put them in order - your favourite first; down to your least favourite!

Charles will be the middle name, but if Charlie is picked, it'll be James.

I'm very new here, so please bear with me!

Thank you so much Smile

I'm not that fussed on popularity, I'll only have one! Wink

But thanks Smile

Louis
Matthew
Oliver
Charlie

elephantpig · 30/03/2016 14:56
  • Aidan - nah
  • Charlie - don't like nicknames as bc names and it's a v. popular name
  • Ciaran/Kieran - like the kieran spelling, my friend is an actor called kieran
  • Elliot/Elliott - like elliott, but I know somebody who I don't like with a baby called Elliott!
  • Louis/Louie - Love the name Louis, becoming more popular
  • Matthew - I like Matthew too, but remember he will most likely become a Matt
  • Noah - Lovely name, v. popular
  • Oliver - Will become an Ollie, popular name
  • Tommy (Thomas on BC) but I'm not completely sold on Thomas... - He can't be an adult called Tommy, I like Tom, but I had a mean 'boyfriend' in primary school called Tom, so I wouldn't.

My personal views - as you can probably tell I wouldn't use a popular name, but that's just me :)

Twinkie1 · 30/03/2016 14:56

Elliott.

Elliott James.

Very uncommon.

DS1 would have been Elliott but it rhymes with his sisters name so thought it sounded a bit silly together!

PresidentCJCregg · 30/03/2016 14:58

I love Matthew.

Do you need some new suggestions if your list isn't quite doing it?

Jonathan
Max
Fraser
Christopher
Benjamin/Ben

VolvicTouchofFruit · 30/03/2016 14:59

I wouldn't just use Tommy! I've said that Wink

I don't mind Matt, or Ollie Smile

I feel like our list is the list we'll choose from - I think the problem is that I love them all!

Thank you for the suggestions, though - they're nice names Smile

Elliott was our choice for boys name! Love it Wink

Raahh · 30/03/2016 15:02

Elliot- fab choice. mine is 13. Charles goes well with it.

congratulations and good luck!

elephantpig · 30/03/2016 15:02

Not on the bc, but would you only use Tommy day to day? I had friends called Tommy when they were younger but 'grew out of it'.

MattBerrysHair · 30/03/2016 15:02

Noah is my favourite, but I am biased as I have a Noah James of my own. Louis is also a great name.

rainbowstardrops · 30/03/2016 15:03

I'd go for Ciaran but I'm a bit biased Wink
After that I'd choose Louis

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 30/03/2016 15:03

Matthew Charles.

VolvicTouchofFruit · 30/03/2016 15:03

I love Elliot/Elliott... But I'm so undecided on the spelling Sad

OP posts:
VolvicTouchofFruit · 30/03/2016 15:06

He can change to Tom, or Thomas Smile we'd call him Tommy, while he is little, and when/if he decides he doesn't want to be known by it, we'd go with what he wants...

Raahh · 30/03/2016 15:07

IMO, ( which doesn't mean much),I think Elliot is a first name, and Elliott is a surname.

MyBootsAreMuddy · 30/03/2016 15:10

Matthew is lovely. Also like Louis.

VolvicTouchofFruit · 30/03/2016 15:11

Both are used as both Sad I change my preference, each day! I'd hate to regret the way I spelt it, every other day...

SpaceDinosaur · 30/03/2016 15:14

Matthew Charles
Or Matthew James

I luff Matthew! It's a beautiful name

HerbieRidesAgain · 30/03/2016 15:35

Kieran - I am biased but it is a name I still love. He was going to be Kieran Matthew for a while so I'd also go for Matthew (he ended up Kieran William) so my order of preference is.....

Kieran Charles
Mathew Charles
Noah Charles
Oliver Charles

PunkAssMoFo · 30/03/2016 18:11

What does he look like? I attach names to certain features.

Eg:

  • Aidan- slight build
  • Charlie- fair hair
  • Ciaran/Kieran-pale skin (even though it means dark)
  • Elliot/Elliott-brown hair
  • Louis/Louie- wide eyed, dark hair
  • Matthew-
  • Noah-olive tones, cuddly
  • Oliver-
  • Tommy- Curt nosed

Don't ask me why, I know I am odd.

SoThatHappened · 30/03/2016 18:17

If you like Tommy but not sold on Thomas, do you like Tim/Timmy/Timothy?

snorepatrol · 30/03/2016 18:19

Put all the names in a hat pick one out if you feel a bit disappointed you got that name then scrap it off your list.
If you pick a name and you feel pleased you got it then that's your name.

Hopefully you'll end up with a name that way or use to start again from scratch Grin

VolvicTouchofFruit · 30/03/2016 18:21

I was asking something on AIBU and I figured everything out there, but that's all! He's Elliot Charles Smile
