Does this sound silly?

I'm currently pregnant with baby #2, and while DH and I have decided on a boys name we're really struggling with a girl. One of the very few we've agreed we like is Rosie... But our surname is Robson. Would the double 'R' sound silly? We'd give her a middle name to break it up a bit, we're undecided on that as well at the minute though... Maybe Rosie Emilia? Opinions please!

Sorry but yes, I think it does.

WhispersOfWickedness · 26/03/2016 21:32

Well, my DD has that exact same combination, different names, but Ro at the start of each name! It has never caused problems and nobody has ever mentioned it, so I think it's fine Smile

PennyHasNoSurname · 26/03/2016 21:33

I think Rosie Robson sounds lovely!

manicinsomniac · 26/03/2016 21:34

No, I think it's fine.

AwfulBeryl · 26/03/2016 21:34

I think it's fine too.

Artandco · 26/03/2016 21:36

Maybe Rosalie sounds slightly better

Rosalie middle Robson

Rosa or Rosie shortened

Rosalie Emmeline Robson

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 26/03/2016 21:36

It is lovely. Sounds a bit like a writer's name.

NovaArt3mis · 26/03/2016 21:38

I like it. I know a Rosie Robertson. I like Emilia too.

I know ignore child with two M M names - he's ways called by his full name - everyone does it! I don't know why.

JudgeJudySheindlin · 26/03/2016 21:43

Its a gorgeous name. Can't see it being a problem, but you'll always get a few negative comments

CoodleMoodle · 26/03/2016 21:43

It's lovely! Though I'm biased as DD is Rosie Grin Her middle name is Alice but it was originally going to be Elizabeth, if that helps.

LolaStarr · 26/03/2016 21:59

Thanks for the replies, such a relief to see most of you think it's ok!

Artandco I'm not keen on Rosalie, it makes me think of Twilight!

Coodle I really like Elizabeth as a middle name and it was my great grandmas name, DH doesn't like it though. Typical!

Rosie sounds fine with your surname OP. Personally I'd go for Rosalind with the nn Rosie but that's just down to preference and the fact I like Shakesperean names.

I don't think middle names break up a name, because most people don't know or don't say the middle name, not like a hyphenated name e.g. Rosie-Ann Robson as opposed to Rosie Ann Robson.

Shame your DH doesn't like Elizabeth, it's such a beautiful name and works on so many levels. I'd like an Elizabeth Rose Anya Robson.

My Grandmother's name was Roseannah, so I suppose I keep that in my mind.

Helenluvsrob · 26/03/2016 22:10

Didn't do Robert robinson any harm!

My only concern would be a speach impediment but that's an issue with ant R name and we have one ( who can say her rs !)

crispytruffle · 26/03/2016 23:56

I think it is fine.

Vixxfacee · 26/03/2016 23:58

Rosie Robson sounds fine. Rosie is not a great name though.

ExtraHotLatteToGo · 27/03/2016 00:13

I don't think it's great. It runs together too much, I feel like I have marbles in my mouth. Plus it sounds like a made up 'chick lit' author's name.

(Sorry, but you did ask for opinions)

Oh and a middle name really won't 'break it up'. Middle names are hardly ever used.

Do you like Grace? I think Grace Robson sounds lovely.

Sophronia · 27/03/2016 00:49

I think it sounds fine. I know a Rosa Robson.

DancingDinosaur · 27/03/2016 00:51

It sounds fine.

KnitFastDieWarm · 27/03/2016 00:59

sounds fine to me, I like alliterative names (ds has one!)

GiddyOnZackHunt · 27/03/2016 02:02

It sounds very Corrie for some reason. A plucky Northern lass. Cute but feisty which is OK.
