Reminds me of a bruised rash, sorry. However very popular among mums where I live.

squoosh · 15/03/2016 14:04

It's pretty popular these days.

Reuben popular!!!

guerre · 15/03/2016 14:07

I would assume you were Jewish. I don't know any Reubens.

squoosh · 15/03/2016 14:09

Ten years ago I'd have assumed a Reuben was Jewish but not any more.

Bluesand1 · 15/03/2016 14:35

I know of 2 and none are Jewish

Stumbleine · 15/03/2016 15:24

I have a 9 year old Reuben. We are not Jewish. Back in 2006 it wasn't very popular but I'm hearing of quite a few recently.

Fugghetaboutit · 15/03/2016 15:27

Best sandwich ever

centigrade451 · 15/03/2016 15:29

It is both a Jewish and Christian Name. I think it is lovely. But tends to get shortened to Ben or Ruby.

People that I have met called Reuben have always been very nice!

squoosh · 15/03/2016 15:31

Yes it is a mighty fine sandwich it has to be said!

Fugghetaboutit · 15/03/2016 15:33

Only had one in NY, can't find them here. Why is that?

squoosh · 15/03/2016 15:35

You can get them in hipster style sandwich joints. It's worth braving the beards and the Victoriana just for a taste of a good Reuben.

SmallBee · 15/03/2016 15:51

Love both the name and Sandwich. It's on my shortlist. Love an old testament name.

Sophronia · 15/03/2016 16:59

It is quite popular. I know a (Christian) one is who 23.

SpaceDinosaur · 15/03/2016 17:18

I don't attribute it to any particular religion, I think it's a beautiful name.

MerryMarigold · 15/03/2016 17:22

1 in our whole school (2 class entry). Also like Linus and Silas

Babykr · 15/03/2016 18:17

I'm really intrigued, what is in a Reuben sandwiche??

Fugghetaboutit · 15/03/2016 19:35

Pastrami/corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut sometimes gherkins w mustard melted in rye bread. It's delicious as the meat is hot and melts the cheese mmm

ShapeShifting · 15/03/2016 20:40

It's popular here I know 3 under 3.

nectarini1983 · 15/03/2016 20:48

It's fairly popular in the South East..nice name, shame would get abbreviated though.

mrsschu · 15/03/2016 22:54

I really like it and wouldn't assume someone called it was Jewish. I'm in London and haven't met any Reuben's.

5minutestobed · 16/03/2016 08:43

I have a Reuben, I've only ever met one other one despite people saying its popular. He's not Jewish or a sandwich... and he only gets called Roo by me and DH.

LovelyBranches · 16/03/2016 20:36

I have a Reuben. He's 16 months and the only one we've met so far. He gets called Reubs as a nickname.

Suzietwo · 16/03/2016 20:48

I have a 6 year old Reuben. It's only occasional abbreviation is reubs.

peachypips · 16/03/2016 20:49

I know five. Sorry! But it is lovely so I can see why it's popular. At our small village school there is roughly one in each class.
