Clunky. Sounds like a made up girly version of a boys name. Plus when you google it you get canadian men, not ladies.

I don't like it sorry. I prefer the traditional spelling and I'm not really a fan of it for a girl.

Her NN could be Ellie too

Looks too much like Toilette to me.

I love it as a boy's name but written as above it feels like it has way too many letters. If I was to use it for a girl or boy I'd spell it Elliot. What about Eloise as an alternative?

I think many people will assume it is a boy's name, and that it's been misused - and you may need to do a lot of explaining when your baby is small and looks unisex! So depends if that would annoy you.

For me, if I was going to use Ellie as a NN, I would go for one of the more traditional longer forms.

It's one of my all-time faves for a boy, though.

Sorry, not convinced. Another vote for Elodie though, that's very pretty.

I like it, I always think Elliot sounds more like a girls name rather than a boys anyway. I think its different and I like the spelling, personally I wouldn't shorten to Ellie, maybe Lottie instead?

I am not keen on the name or spelling for a girl sorry. She will have to spend most of her primary school years with a name traditionally for boys and put up with having to spell it every time later on in life. It's not a question of liking it or not, it's a question of giving your child a name that will mean she will be picked on and she will have to spell all the time. Why? There are hundreds of really nice names, some traditional some more unusual, but a boys' name? Why? Ellie could be short for Eliza, Eleanor, Elena, Elodie, Eloise, ...

'Quirky' generally turns out to be a bit of a pain to the owner of a quirky name.

Why on earth would you do this?

It's not even a feminine ending- it anything it means little Eliot.

You will spend your life saying "Actually, she's a girl". And she will spend her life explaining that she is actually a girl/woman and her name is spelled with an extra -te on the end.

I think Elliott is fine for a girl (I actually think it sounds more femenine than masculine) I know one, I know one in a book, and think it is becoming more popular for females.

Sorry but I think it's absolutely awful. It's a weird pseudo girly version of a masculine name that looks and sounds like toilet.

I highly doubt she'll be picked on, that's a bit far fetched. We are in the centre of London, there's lots of little children with different names, normally due to their background, but it's normal here. She wouldn't be picked on.

I understand the spelling thing, but most boys get that with Elliot/Elliott anyway. With Elliotte, I think people would assume girl?

I've just not fallen in love with any other name :( there are a couple I like, but they're traditionally for boys and so I would spell them different. Hmm, I'll keep thinking!

Elliot works for a girl I think but the Elliotte spelling seems wrong and very try-hard. It also would make me want to pronounce it differently to Elliot (otherwise why the extra te?) - so you may get people saying Ell-what instead of Ell-ee-ut.
