Fantastic name, classic but a bit under used at the moment. I was always anti three names as opposed to two, but then used three for my ds Grin Sounds great, why not try it out for a few days, see how it sticks.

HelpfulChap · 08/02/2016 06:59

Three classic names. Can't go wrong there. Personally I would spell it George buy I know what you youngsters are like with your wacky names Wink

Lovely names.

Matthew is a great name. Classic but underused now and with potential for some nice nn's. Your middle names aren't really my taste but it all sounds fine together.

Lolimax · 08/02/2016 07:14

My 18 yr old DS has just changed his whole name, surname included (no contact with father) and his name is now Matthew!

Dreamimgofmyholiday · 08/02/2016 07:17

I could see a boy would like to be called Matthew.Thank you,

It's still used a lot around here. Lots of Matts, Mattys etc.

I'm not keen on it, bit meh.

Thanks for your comments.

Matthew is nice. Be prepared for it to be shortened to Matt . Prefer Oliver as a middle name - two is overkill.

madmotherof2 · 08/02/2016 08:15

Yes most People, that was his request

CrystalMcPistol · 08/02/2016 10:50

Very popular in Ireland, think it might even have been the most popular boys name a couple of years ago.

It's an okay name.

pilates · 08/02/2016 11:07

Lovely, I think the three names sound great together.

CiderwithBuda · 08/02/2016 11:13

Bit biased but i like it! Mine is Matthew at home but Matt at school and to friends.

Dreamimgofmyholiday · 08/02/2016 11:55

I think he would always be Matthew to me too ,probably Matt at school that seems so far off thought.

I don't know many Matthews, what kind of boy do you think of when you hear Matthew?

mrsjskelton · 08/02/2016 13:48

Lovely!

Pipilangstrumpf · 08/02/2016 14:29

It's a good solid name, but I don't like the (inevitable?) nickname Matt..

fleurdelacourt · 08/02/2016 14:31

I have a Matthew. It's a great, solid boys name - I was expecting more 'meh' type comments as there is a large MN contingent who prefer more unique names (Quentin anyone?!)

For me - I like that it's not super popular right now, but I also like that it's traditional. As long as you're 100% fine with all his friends calling him Matt as he grows up (there is no escape IMO) then go for it.

Pipilangstrumpf · 08/02/2016 15:06

We actually have a Quentin! Still like the name Matthew Smile

weegiemum · 08/02/2016 15:09

Dd1 was going to be Matthew

Ds - we changed our mind at that point

Then dd2 was going to be Matthew.

I like it but we never got to use it!
