What's your favourite (slightly) unusual boys name?

Looking at boys names for DS2 and struggling a bit. DS1 has a traditional top 10 name but we can't find another similar we like for DS2 so I'm thinking we might need to go a bit more unusual. So I'm looking for some inspiration!

Oh! Boaz and Hector are just fabulous.

My son is due to be born on Thursday and he will be called Ezra.

TwoLittleBlooms · 25/01/2016 01:35

If dd2 was a boy she was going to be called Ezra or Elias, although I think both are getting more popular now. dd1 was going to be Xander if a boy. T

There was a thread on here about Archer the other day, it wasn't hated at all.

Love Asher too.

ThatsNotMyHouseItIsTooClean · 25/01/2016 08:55

Roderick
Diggory
Christopher (which isn't an unusual name but is amongst the under 30s)

HeavyFrost · 25/01/2016 09:35

My son's name is on here. The glory!

But what is stopping you all using lots of these names, the vast majority of which are really nice, and in no way remotely strange or off the wall? The village where I live seems to have wall to wall Jacks, Maxs (that looks odd, but it can't be Maxes, can it?), Harrys, and Georges. Please liven up the outlook with a baby Innes, Boaz or Jago.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 25/01/2016 11:22

Agree Heavy.

Boaz looks pretty cool. Is it said like boze or bo-as or...?

ThirtyNineWeeks · 25/01/2016 11:29

Ezra's on his way! My waters broke at 7.40 this morning!

Sorry to derail, OP Blush

HeavyFrost · 25/01/2016 11:34

BOE-azz, as far as I'm aware. I think I've always liked the name because the illustration of the Boaz in the Book of Ruth in an illustrated Bible I had as a child was rather good-looking, standing about in his grain field looking all dark and masterful. I'm deep like that...

HeavyFrost · 25/01/2016 11:34

Good luck, Thirty, and to little Ezra!

ThirtyNineWeeks · 25/01/2016 11:35

Just asked DH if we can have Boaz and he said: 'Absolutely NOT' Hmm

maiscout · 25/01/2016 11:41

Ezra
Wyatt

Jasper
Felix
Roman
Jude
Gabriel

stumblymonkey · 25/01/2016 12:07

I generally go for quite traditional/popular names it seems but among my quirkier choices are...

  • Harrison nn Harry
  • Grayson nn Gray
  • Ellis
  • Reuben (family name - my gt gt gt grandfather)

I love Grayson but I know DP would veto because he is uber-conservative with names.
