Having had a mixed reaction for Gloria, I'm wondering about Floella.

It is a proper name, although the only one I've ever heard of is Floella Benjamin from play school...

I prefer Gloria.

However, I think there is room in the world for more Floellas!

My immediate thought was Floella Benjamin too. Not heard of any others. I quite like it.

I had never heard the name, but now I can't undo the menstrual association. I haven't replied to your other thread, but I think Gloria is lovely and refreshing!

There's only one Floella. For me it would be like calling your DD Madonna or Cher or something. But I am 42 so bang in the age zone, you may not find younger types have the same associations!

Sadly DH had vetoed Floella, he said it reminds him of butter or a cross between flow and Cinderella

I knew a delicious baby Gloria , far away and long ago, child of a tailor in an African market. She used to sit on her Dad's sewing machine table, modelling small beautiful dresses. I've always liked the name since then.

There used to be an ad on Australian television for a kind of extra strong soap, called Solvol. It starred a brother and sister called Geoffrey and Gloria.

That's what Gloria reminds me of.

Floella sounds like a disease or a micro-organism to me.

Gloria always makes me think of 1960s kitchen sink dramas...but not many young ones around now

Floella Benjamin I loved her as a small child. Would be very disappointed to meet a floella without blue beads in her hair but that's just my generation. As a name it's just been horribly ruined by the previous poster 😳.
