Hunter?

My husband has suggested the name Hunter for DS3. I think it goes well with our surname, but not 100% sure that I like it.

I have named our other boys so it is his turn and so far he likes Bruno and Hunter.

Any thoughts?

I've always LOVED Hunter. It's a beautiful name for a boy. I don't mind Bruno but it's not as nice as Hunter.

My DH likes Rocky. It's nice but it's a bit much in my opinion! I'd prefer Hunter any day.

PixieChops · 15/01/2016 06:57

Love it, that was on our list but ended up with River instead.

nextusername · 15/01/2016 08:58

Sorry but I don't like Hunter. It makes me think of fox hunting.

FighterPilotsThumbs · 15/01/2016 09:02

Not a fan.

I like both names, but you'll get lots of people on saying Hunter is a surname, American etc etc.

AuntieStella · 15/01/2016 09:04

I know it's popular in N America, but I don't think hunting is such an issue there. I think the meaning of the vocabulary word will be noticeable in Britain.

What is your attitude to blood sports?

AuntieStella · 15/01/2016 09:05

Sorry, forgot to add, Bruno is a lovely name.

TheCatsMeow · 15/01/2016 09:05

Not a fan

BatMobile · 15/01/2016 09:08

No.

marriednotdead · 15/01/2016 09:26

I've only met one Hunter. A lovely American girl.

pilates · 15/01/2016 12:52

Not for me.

RidersOnTheStorm · 15/01/2016 12:54

No.

BYOSnowman · 15/01/2016 12:56

What are your kids other names?

John, Paul and either Hunter or Bruno would be a bit weird

I personally don't like Hunter as I'm not sure what aspiration that is saying you have for your child!!

GiveMeVegemite · 15/01/2016 13:12

Ha. Mixed responses! I think it is warming on me though.

I don't think people will assume I want him to be a hunter!? I know a Sailor, Scout and a Wolf....!!??

Well I wouldn't call my son fighter or killer either

Realised my friends car was called hunter which is probably another reason I don't like it for a human!

MitzyLeFrouf · 15/01/2016 13:14

Bruno is a bajillion times better than Hunter. Love Bruno!

GiveMeVegemite · 15/01/2016 13:39

Baby names are so hard.

I think I'll just have to see which ones warms on me the most , Bruno or Hunter. I think Hunter is a lot more common in Australia (where I am now) than in the UK (where I used to live).

Don't ask here if you are in Oz.

I'm sure no sane Aussie will name their child Milo. But it seems perfectly acceptable here.

HeadDreamer · 15/01/2016 13:50

DH has English parents but migrated to NZ as a child. He's saddled with a name girl's name in NZ. It's a very popular boy's name here in the UK in the 70s.

MamaLazarou · 15/01/2016 15:12

I misread the thread title as 'Munter'.

So it's a no from me.

Sophronia · 15/01/2016 15:29

Don't like it at all, sorry. Bruno is much nicer.

mrsschu · 15/01/2016 16:09

It's awful, sorry. And yes I'm going to be one of those people who says "it's a surname". Which it is. It just sounds silly IMO. Bruno is ok-ish. Seems to be having a small revival, I've come across a few recently.

oldandcrabby · 15/01/2016 16:40

To me Hunter = welllies.

Rumplebelle · 15/01/2016 16:40

I like Hunter more than Bruno.

Tiggeryoubastard · 15/01/2016 16:43

Bruno isn't great at all, but it's a million times better than Hunter. That's bloody hideous.
