Opinions on Gideon?

I wanted something unusual, but still 'normal' - so I had decided on Gideon, but now I'm not so sure... Depending on the feedback, it will be the middle name! I would still like it as the first name though... Thank you :)

Gideon's a cunt
Gideon osbourne
Sorry

Barbie1 · 10/01/2016 08:15

Not my cup of tea, sorry.

JAZA · 10/01/2016 08:18

If not, he'll be Noah Gideon :)

It was George Osborne's real name but he hated it so much, and was so worried it would affect his career, that he changed it. Now it's a name used to tease him. I just think of him wen I hear it. A big no from me.

SummerMonths · 10/01/2016 08:19

Noah is lovely

Rivercam · 10/01/2016 08:19

great choice of nam. As you say, unusual but not weird.

Obsidian - bit harsh comment.

ifigoup · 10/01/2016 08:20

I like Gideon! George Osborne doesn't get to ruin a perfectly nice and solid name!

Noah Gideon works too, but obviously Noah is a lot more prevalent.

StitchesInTime · 10/01/2016 08:20

I like it

I don't think the George Osborne thing is a reason to avoid Gideon. It's not like he kept Gideon as his first name.

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 10/01/2016 08:21

Harsh? It's what it makes me think of. George Osborne who is a cunt. There is a mner with it as her username.

SummerMonths · 10/01/2016 08:24

OK, let's leave aside the massive George Osborbe teasing issue.

I don't think it's a nice sounding name. It's only shortening is Gid which sounds like Git.

JAZA · 10/01/2016 08:26

It makes me think of Criminal Minds, aha... Not George Osborne! It's so hard to decide :( I do like Noah Gideon - both Old Testament names :)

Gideon = osborne
I reserve the c word for hunt but would agree that for me Gideon conjures up unpleasant thoughts.
sorry

Veterinari · 10/01/2016 08:26

Gideon just sounds very old fashioned to me. No nice shortenings and it's a bit of a mouthful.

Are you religious OP? Noah Gideon are two very strong Old Testament names, though Noah is very trendy now.

LadyWithLapdog · 10/01/2016 08:27

Big NO for the Osborne connection. Same reason I'd never use Margaret. Forever tainted for me. I'll admit it's s bit absurd but there you go.

guiltynetter · 10/01/2016 08:28

Gideon is awful. sorry.

JAZA · 10/01/2016 08:28

I'm actually not religious, but I do love biblical names :)

NellysKnickers · 10/01/2016 08:29

Used to know a Gideon, he was NOT a nice person. Shame as it's an ok name, just ruined for me.

Salene · 10/01/2016 08:31

Oh gosh it's a terrible name

Sorry

SummerMonths · 10/01/2016 08:31

There are other, much nicer, unusual Old Testament names that go with Noah:
Noah Saul
Noah Elias
Noah Seth
Noah Elijah

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 10/01/2016 08:31

Not keen on Gideon, (although much prefer it to George, no idea why he changed it)

Noah is nice.

Veterinari · 10/01/2016 08:32

I know that times change but I went to school with a boy who's middle name was Isaiah - despite being popular he was always teased for his 'weird' religious name (he had a common first name of biblical origin). I know that there is much greater variety of names now and many Old Testament names are trendy but a names like Gideon isn't one of them and doesn't offer much flexibility

rainbowstardrops · 10/01/2016 08:32

Wasn't Gideon a tv duck yonks ago?

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 10/01/2016 08:32

Gabriel?

JAZA · 10/01/2016 08:33

I actually prefer Gideon to all of those! I don't know... Gideon just has a 'cool' feel, IMO - the thing is, I will be using it, it was just a question between 1st or 2nd name!

I knew it!
