I've just stumbled across the name Luna, and I think I'm totes in love with it.

What are people's opinion on it? It's not a name you hear very often!

I like Luna, but do worry of the NN Lune lol, so stayed away from it

Outaboutnowt · 02/01/2016 23:26

I like it. We know a baby Luna from playgroup and she is adorable. Not met any others though!

Wolfiefan · 02/01/2016 23:26

Lovegood. Sorry!

SuburbanRhonda · 02/01/2016 23:27

I had a guinea pig called Luna.

Sophronia · 02/01/2016 23:46

A friend of mine had a Luna a few weeks ago, I think it's becoming more popular.

LadyMaryofDownt0n · 02/01/2016 23:47

Love it.

AuntieStella · 02/01/2016 23:52

It's very Harry Potter. Are you OK with that?

PurpleDaisies · 02/01/2016 23:54

My dh and I were literally just discussing which Harry Potter names would make it into the general population.

It isn't to my taste but if you love it go for it.

Roo79 · 02/01/2016 23:54

Not fussed about the Harry Potter thing!

Too close to lunatic for my liking.

There is an Irish film called 'Dancing at Lughnasa' and I think that was a pagan harvest festival.

tangerinesarenottheonlyfruit · 03/01/2016 00:02

I love it :)

Elaheh · 03/01/2016 16:32

Makes me think of lunatic, loo, loony etc

NHKX2 · 03/01/2016 17:29

I don't hate it, but it's a bit hippy for my taste. Also, I've known far too many dogs named Luna, so there's that association which others may not have.

yearofthehorse · 03/01/2016 17:31

I know several dogs..

BrienneofQarth · 03/01/2016 17:33

Love it so much I might steal it if current cooking child is a girl!

Kathysclown · 03/01/2016 17:34

I know a six year old Luna, I think she has Spanish heritage so possibly originates from there as a name?

Penfold007 · 03/01/2016 17:37

Next door's cat is called Luna. She is lovely but very noisy.

Lovelydiscusfish · 03/01/2016 18:09

There's an evil Princess Luna in My Little Pony. Well not evil perhaps, that's overstating it, but she has a bit of a shady past.
That's probably a fairly obscure reference, but I do think the Harry Potter one would be more well known. Still, if you like the name, why not?

Cinnamon2013 · 03/01/2016 18:11

I love it. But know too many dogs called Luna.

The Harry Potter thing wouldn't have occurred to me. I think its a pretty name but Frank Lampard has a little girl called Luna, so I think its a bit 'footballer'. That said, all names have someone else you can associate with don't they, so I say if you like it go for it.

GoldPlatedBacon · 03/01/2016 18:34

I think it's lovely. Bit on the hippy/alternative side but that isn't a bad thing

Raxacoricofallapatorius · 03/01/2016 18:38

It's really lovely.

Salene · 03/01/2016 18:39

I associate it as a animals name

I know a horse, a dog and few cats called Luna

themumfairy · 03/01/2016 22:23

Love it. Dp won't allow me to use it on baby due in a few weeks but that's only because I'm a harry Potter fanatic and he isn't.
