I've name changed, because I can get too easily worked up on Baby Names when they are close to my heart. Blush Need to be calm, need to be calm.

Considering for an imminent ds:

Atlas
Patrick
Benedict
Reuben
Wolfgang (dp's choice...)

I particularly love Atlas, but am conscious of the general ribbing it might get...

I seeiously considered Atlas for DC 2 who turned out to be a girl! My partner vetoed it (after initially agreeing) after telling his friends and having it ripped to shreds! I still love it!

PunkrockerGirl · 14/11/2015 20:31

Atlas is a fab name
No it really, really isn't.
I always think when I see an unusual twattish name on here it should be considered how it will sound on the child's wedding day.
I Atlas take thee .. whoever.
No, just no. Unless you want the guests to be curled up with laughter.
Why would you do this to a child. It's the child who'll have to live with this, not you Confused

CoralieConfused · 14/11/2015 23:59

Why would wedding guests be curled up with laughter? Confused Presumably they'd have got used to the pure twattish craziness of the name by that time... Hmm

Punkrocker have you never met anyone with a remotely unusual name? Most of them manage just fine in nornal society.

PunkrockerGirl · 15/11/2015 07:38

I've got an unusual name myself, Laquila Hmm

NoArmaniNoPunani · 15/11/2015 07:43

Atlas makes me think of a terrible worrier.

Hipotle · 15/11/2015 07:48

Atticus?

FakaP · 15/11/2015 07:49

Love Patrick, it's my favourite boy's name

Laquila · 15/11/2015 07:54

And it's cleaeky been a burden for you, Punkrocker, but that doesn't change the fact that most people with unusual names seem to cope OK. I know plenty of people with unusual names who wouldn't change them - I'm married to one - so whimat neithe is is should be herbal using, it's not accurate to say that an unusual name is a "twattish/crazy" blight

Dontwant2behere · 15/11/2015 08:11

If it helps at all, Patrick makes me think of American Psycho.
I like Atlas, go for it. Rather maps that a serial killer.

PunkrockerGirl · 15/11/2015 09:11

Not a burden at all thanks, Laquila
It's unusual, but not ridiculous, or made up. I'm quite happy with it and would be change it for the world.
Your last sentence makes no sense, btw.

CoralieConfused · 15/11/2015 15:45

Atlas isn't a made up or (in my opinion) ridiculous name. Poor little worrier Atlas!

Atlas makes me think of "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand.

I'd be watching you for signs of rampant capitalism!Wink

Suzietwo · 15/11/2015 20:28

I have a nearly 6 year old Reuben. He's the only one I've met.

And a 1.5 year old Magnus which is a rockingly ridiculous name

Laquila · 15/11/2015 21:35

Hah not sure what happened with my predictive text - "so whimat neithe is is should be herbal using..." should have been "so whilst neither of us should be generalising..."

PunkrockerGirl · 16/11/2015 09:19

Bloody predictive text, it's the bane of my life Grin

cally0 · 16/11/2015 13:41

I prefer the spelling 'Ruben'.

I think Wolfgang is cool, especially 'Wolfie for short - so cute!
