Heard today:-

Spring-rose

At the doctors the other day was deliah-rose. Thought it was a misspell for Delilah but then maybe it's Delia?

And the when I worked in a nursery there was a little boy called deneil. Not too bad you say, till you knew his older brother was called Neil Hmm

Squash. Apparently she has six siblings and their names are more unusual than hers. I don't dare ask...

Alfredoshoes · 06/11/2015 15:05

Twins called Amber and Scarlet. Boys called Denby and Bentley

ClaireSW32 · 06/11/2015 15:10

Why is Scarlett mentioned, I thought that was a popular name? Our primary has 3 in one year group alone, more in other years.

ClaireSW32 · 06/11/2015 15:11

Meant to say 'I'm wondering why...' juat realised my post sounded arsey!
Name must be popular only in some areas maybe?

honeysucklejasmine · 06/11/2015 15:13

Pebbles - lovely, bright girl. Would be in her 20s by now.

BalaRua · 06/11/2015 15:16

I knew a Godknows once. Such a power name.

notheroldie · 06/11/2015 15:19

Skeff. Made up name and ridiculous.

BertrandRussell · 06/11/2015 15:22

I came across a Dash last week. In circumstances which reinforced my strong belief that "unique" names are a seriously bad idea.

TheDaerieQueene · 06/11/2015 15:31

I once heard a mother calling "Serendipity, come here!" in a shop in Hampstead... That's probably the most unusual name I've heard in real life.

Less out there but still a bit unusual, there was a baby Lysander in a baby group I went to earlier this week - I was wondering whether the parents got the name from Shakespeare or Jilly Cooper. I love that name but DH would never have gone for it.

80sWaistcoat · 06/11/2015 15:33

Jaxon.

Alfieisnoisy · 06/11/2015 15:34

Crocus...and I think it's a beautiful name.

milkingmachine1 · 06/11/2015 15:41

Somerset, for a boy.

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 06/11/2015 15:44

Also worked with a girl called mystery. It was a mystery how she kept her job too lazy to do any work

I think her sister/friend was called pretty.

EssentialHummus · 06/11/2015 15:44

"Surprise George". I just assumed his dad's name was George Grin

Nanasueathome · 06/11/2015 15:47

Met a little girl named Lovely the other day

SuperNanny1989 · 06/11/2015 15:48

I've been in childcare for some time, so have encountered a few unusual ones...

Keziah
Xander
Barnaby
Joshkun
Serena
Ocean
Granville
Jengis
Giles

I've also heard through a friend of twin girls named Tia and Maria, though not met them myself- not sure how true it is!

IoraRua · 06/11/2015 15:51

Since when is Serena unusual? I went to school with 3 Grin

2tired2bewitty · 06/11/2015 15:54

With reference to the Muff mentioned upthread, there was an old lady called Muff at church when I was a child, but it was some kind of mispronounciation by an infant sibling/nickname that stuck rather than her actual name.

Encountered an Onyx in a shoe shop once.

iklboo · 06/11/2015 15:54

DS used to go to school with a Goldie-Mae and a Danyul.

spritefairy · 06/11/2015 15:56

I wondered when Serena was unusual. I like it...

Leyland (boy)
Shroom (boy)
T-jay actual name not nn
Ocean (girl)

SpanglesGalloway · 06/11/2015 16:00

I've also heard of a Little girl called ocean i see there is a few on the thread maybe not that unusual!
Poccahontas (sp) teamed with a Scottish surname...

GrouchyKiwi · 06/11/2015 16:07

I know a lady called Dayspring. Suits her.

My BIL's oldest brother is Berwyn, which I think is very unusual.

MadHattersWineParty · 06/11/2015 16:16

Both girls in the same reception class:

Taylor but spelt Tae-Leur, and my personal favourite- Masala.

NickMarlow · 06/11/2015 16:26

November. And she had a spring birthday.

MamaLazarou · 06/11/2015 16:50

Giles? Amber? They're not remotely unusual.
