Do you know any Felicitys? If so, what are they like and do they have a nn?

I have a newborn DD named Felicity...she is registered, it's a done deal. DP and I bickered from 16 weeks onwards over what to call her. I wanted to call her Arabella, he like Georgia, so we compromised on Felicity as an 'it's ok' name for us both.
Now she's here it's just not right. It feels too formal for a tiny baby, and I know she will be an adult for a long time and a baby for the blink of an eye but I haven't actually used her name at all except when asked directly what it is. I call her Floss, which DP hates, but it suits my sweet smelling, scrumptious DD.
I guess I'm just wondering what connotations the name has for people, and what nicknames people have heard for it. I dislike Flick, before anyone suggests that one!

Felicity is lovely. I know one (in her 30s). No nn for her.

My dd has a name which is also a little grown up. She has a pet name which is nothing to do with her real name (a flower) which we sometimes use. Could you perhaps do that?

NerrSnerr · 26/09/2015 16:22

I know a couple who are lovely. They are both known as Flyk.

BlowOnMySackbutt · 26/09/2015 16:23

Flick is a common abbreviation of Felicity.

Gardeningpig · 26/09/2015 16:25

My DD, she's 3, we call her Fliss, they call her Flissy at nursery. Think Flick is more of a teenager NN? Don't know of any other little ones called Felicity, I think it's an excellent name but I'm biased!

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 26/09/2015 16:25

I know a couple. One 30 ish. One about 6.

Older one has loads of names flick fliss floss flo

The younger one lissy or felicity

Idoitforthelove · 26/09/2015 16:25

I know a two year old who goes by Licci

LisbethSalandersLaptop · 26/09/2015 16:27

I know one who was called 'Fig' and one that was called 'Feli' which threw me as a kid as it sounded like 'Faily'. She was Swiss I think.

Idoitforthelove · 26/09/2015 16:27

(That's 'Lissy' by the way...not 'licky' ??)

strawberrie · 26/09/2015 16:27

I like Fliss, or what about Lissy? It's a great name, I've come across a couple of little Felicitys and I think it suits young/ older girls alike.

honeysucklejasmine · 26/09/2015 16:28

Fliss or Flick. I think it's a lovely name.

TeaAndNoSympathy · 26/09/2015 16:31

I know a 32 year old Felicity. She is usually known as Flick.

bialystockandbloom · 26/09/2015 16:32

I know a Felicity shortened to Effie.

CleverPlansAndSecretTricks · 26/09/2015 16:33

I love it. I know 3, all different ages. All fun, kind, creative types. It's a name that never seems to date.

Nicknames Felicitys I know go by include:
Flik
Fizz
Tiggy

Just pick a nickname you like! It doesn't have to have anything to do with her "official" name.

AnnaBegins · 26/09/2015 16:33

I know three in their twenties called Flick, Fliss and Lissy. Also a child called Flea (or might be Flee, not sure). Love the name. Could be Ceci (see-see or seh-see) maybe?

MyNewBearTotoro · 26/09/2015 16:33

I know two. One is Fliss and one is Flick.

Floss is cute too Smile

OverAndAbove · 26/09/2015 16:34

Lissy seems to be the nickname of choice around here. I love it!

scatterthenuns · 26/09/2015 16:37

I'm a 30 year old Felicity. I'm Fliss.

Pandora978 · 26/09/2015 16:41

I know an almost 6 year old Felicity, she goes by Fliss for a NN. I think Felicity suits all ages actually, even babies as it's such a light, airy, girly name but it's formal sounding enough to work on an adult as well. It's one of my absolute favourite names.

FrenchPlaits · 26/09/2015 16:43

I know two adults called Felicity with nn Fliss, and one with nn Flick. The little Felicity I know of (7 yrs old) is Cece, because her brother couldn't say felicity and called her this.

I like Floss. I think Felicity is a lovely name, too - much nicer than Arabella!

Wilberforce2 · 26/09/2015 16:43

I know two Felicity's one is Fliss for a NN and the other is Lity.

It's horrible when you feel like you have made a mistake with a name, my dad is 19 months now and I still don't love her name Confused

Curiouserandcuriouser30 · 26/09/2015 16:45

Have you considered Flick? Grin

I know one who goes by Fliss, but personally I think Floss is cute and if it suits her and you like it then I would stick with it. Tell your DH that as you are the one who went through labour and childbirth then you get to decide it will grown on him!

SerenaVanDerWoodsen · 26/09/2015 16:46

Lovely name. I know one in her late 30s and one in her late teens. They both are known as Fliss, which I really like too.

QOD · 26/09/2015 17:48

Flick and she's cute and crazy!

MadameJosephine · 26/09/2015 17:51

I love Felicity it's a fabulous name. I've only met one who has the head teacher at my DS's primary school, she was a lovely woman and we all called her Lissy

BigRedBall · 26/09/2015 17:54

The last felicity I knew was Holly Valance in Neightbours Grin..flick.

Please don't use Fliss as a nn...there's a FlissPaps username on here, always makes me laugh.

I like lissy, or flick tbh.
