Boy's name Winston??

I am 32 weeks pregnant expecting a boy and still no idea on name.

We are now thinking Winston Lancelot Jasper. Crazy?
My husband wants two middle names to start with L and J as he and our DS both have. Anyway, I am not too fussed about middle names.

My personal shortlist now is:

Winston
Theodore
Alastair

Arrgghh.. I am so frustrated with all this name picking and none of the names really feel totally right..
Any suggestions or opinions on our name list?

I love Winston! It was first choice if DD was a boy, followed by Raymond, Eric, Cecil and Abel.

Winston is a great name, strong, cool and classic.

Middle names never get used, so choose whatever you like, especially if they're family names.

I love Winston and the middle names give him lots of options

Its actually a really nice name, Winston, but it makes me think of Winston Silcott, unfortunately.

I think Winston is very cutting edge, name wise. I like it. I think Winston Jasper Lancelot has a better ring to it than WLJ.

Winston is cute! It does make me think of geriatric Jamaicans though.

But you know you just might get people who think saying it in a faux Jamaican accent is amusing.

and yes I afraid one does rather think of Silcott rather than Churchill.
We used to have a pony living behind our house called Winston, he was a little darling.

It's a great name and people are not going to associate your Winston with either Churchill or Silcot (no idea who he is, personally), but with YOUR son. It's just because we don't know many little Winstons that our only associations are these.

I once had a pet snail called winston... But genuinely I love love love the name!!!

weary it was a big deal, I agree. I remember the case making huge waves at the time and after his conviction was quashed.

However, I'm sure that if people were asked to name the most famous Winston they could think of it wouldn't be Winston Silcott.

Winston Churchill suffered from manic depression, surviving on minimum naps for months on end when on a high but when the Black Dog struck he was a very unpleasant person, known for his misogyny and violent drunken behaviour. Not the benevolent British bulldog and rousing orator we're led to believe.

I'd think twice before I saddled a child with a name that has such connotations. However, I did know somebody who called their Golden Retriever Winston .

Suburban. I didn't say it was the most famous Winston or that most people would think of him first, only that I did. Him and then other old Jamaican men (I used to live in Brixton).

Winston is a great name,but without the middle names.
