So after posting DHs shortlist yesterday he has now informed me that Perrie is his number one choice for a girl . Tbf I do remember him mentioning it I just forgot about it.

Personally I don't really like it - it's not awful but just doesn't seem like a full name to me. It might be okay as a nickname but not the full name and I wouldn't think of it as a girls name either. To be honest my first thought was of 'Kevin and Perry' from the Harry Enfield sketch. That's the only place I have heard the name before and of course he's a boy.

That said with baby names it's not important want anyone else thinks so if you both like it then use it.

DrGoogleWillSeeYouNow · 14/09/2015 14:04

My first thought is Kevin and Perry. Second one is that girl from Little Mix that got dumped by Zayn (not sure why I know this). It seems like a nickname to me, like it should be short for something.

Gummibaers · 14/09/2015 14:06

It seems perhaps a little nicknamey to me too, but otherwise it's a good, easy to spell/pronoune name that isn't overused. If you both like it, why not?

NickNacks · 14/09/2015 14:08

The platypus is my first thought. I'm not too keen personally, it's a bit masculine for my taste.

Sophronia · 14/09/2015 14:41

It makes me think of the singer from Little Mix.

UrbaneFox · 14/09/2015 14:42

Yes Mrs Patterson!

Yes Mrs Patterson

mayaknew · 14/09/2015 15:06

Oh I forgot about Perry the Platypus!

The singer from little mix is where DH got the idea . Dd is a massive little mix fan . That particular association doesn't bother me .

Not a fan. Reminds me of vile pear cider stuff and Kevin and Perry.

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 14/09/2015 15:10

Also, in my head it would be short for Peregrine for some reason!

mayaknew · 14/09/2015 15:16

To the people who are reminded of Kevin and Perry is that a generational thing you think ? I know who Kevin and Perry are but when I hear Perrie the only thing I think of is little mix . I'm 29 .

OP posts:
squoosh · 14/09/2015 15:20

It could be generational. I'm nearly ten years older so maybe that's why Kevin & Perry was my first thought.

squoosh · 14/09/2015 15:23

And after that I think 'perry cider'

Basically I spent my teens years watching Harry Enfield and drinking cheap alcohol!

SirChenjin · 14/09/2015 15:30

Kevin and Perry, and the one who got dumped by Zayne. Neither are good.

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 14/09/2015 15:32

maya I'm 30 and I think Kevin and Perry. Used to watch Harry Enfield when I was about 14. I don't really know much about Little Mix, I'm too old for them and DD is only 22 months so too young for them.

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 14/09/2015 15:33

squoosh ditto!

Starlingsintheslipstream · 14/09/2015 15:39

I quite like Peri, like Peri Gilpin the actress.

choccyp1g · 14/09/2015 15:40

Love it, but I'd spell it Peri after an awesome friend.

SmugairleRoin · 14/09/2015 15:57

Hate it.
Reminds me of that Little Mix girl, or feels like its missing the r on the end.

Lovely name for a water brand, I don't like it on a child.

Pandora978 · 14/09/2015 15:57

It's okay but I don't like that spelling - I think Peri is better. Another association is Hollyoaks - I'm sure most people aren't still watching that in their late 20s though, unlike me. Grin

mayaknew · 14/09/2015 16:12

Grotbag when I was 14 I was watching Buffy Charmed and Friends. GrinGrin maybe I wasn't cool Grin

Is it short for something usually?

koalakoala · 14/09/2015 16:19

I'm 25 and didn't think of Kevin and Perry (even though I used to watch it). It doesn't really matter what other people associate it with, your little girl would make it her own Smile I like it.

PallasCat · 14/09/2015 17:10

I do like it, but especially with the Little Mix association, it could become a very '20-teens' name, I guess partly depending on how Little Mix's career goes. I think it would benefit from being a nn for example for Perdita - that way she'd have the choice of not having a strong association if she felt later that it was too strongly associated to Little Mix (or Harry Enfield!)
