I need help . 20 weeks and not one potential name. DHs shortlist:

Boy:
Roman
Gabriel
Jonah
Leo

Girl:
Jessica
Emily
Alice
Bridget
Penelope (that's one I suggested earlier but went off it but DH keeping it in the mix)

Lists are in order of most-least favourite . I'm just not sure about any of them I am really struggling to like any name Sad

Gabriel for a boy. It's strong yet gentle at the same time and not at all over used. Dp wanted this name for a boy (we're TTC) but I can't use it. I would if I couid though without a doubt.
Bridget for a girl. It's gorgeous very classy and elegant plus she can opt to be use Bridie if she so wishes.
CongratulationsFlowers

I like Gabriel and Emily. I also like Leo and Jessica although I would use Jess instead of the full name.

NationMcKinley · 13/09/2015 22:52

I'd choose Gabriel and Penelope. Gorgeous names. Congratulations Smile

Sophronia · 13/09/2015 22:55

Gabriel and Alice.

Idontseeanytimelords · 13/09/2015 22:58

Jonah and Bridget.
Gabriel is a good name as well.

Onedirectionarestillloved · 13/09/2015 22:59

Gabriel and Alice.

mrstweefromtweesville · 13/09/2015 23:01

Gabriel and Alice. Definitely.

PorcupineNecktie · 13/09/2015 23:33

Another vote for Gabriel and Bridget!

whatdoIget · 13/09/2015 23:43

Gabriel and Alice

CakeRattleandRoll · 14/09/2015 01:05

Your boy's names are not my cup of tea, but I really like Bridget, Penelope and Jessica from your girl's list.

mathanxiety · 14/09/2015 01:44

I love Leo, Alice and Bridget.

NadiaWadia · 14/09/2015 04:42

Gabriel is lovely! Jonah is nice and Leo is fine. Bit ambiguous about Roman. Although the name is nice in itself it is a bit tainted by Roman Polanski to me. This is probably illogical, as there must be many Romans, esp. in mainland Europe. But as it's more unusual here, RP is the first association I think of.

Alice is beautiful and I also love Emily and Jessica. Bridget and Penelope seem a bit more stodgy somehow, although OK.

Boobie2 · 14/09/2015 07:03

Bridget

And how about Jared?

wigglesrock · 14/09/2015 07:11

I like all your boys names but Gabriel would be a run away winner.

Girls name - they're ok. I don't like Penelope at all, I know its a much feted MN name but I find it very clunky and a bit wet. Bridget - for the love of God no. I lump Bridget in with Concepta, Assumpta and other nun related names. It was the confirmation name of choice when I was younger because you never had to use it in real life and it would please your teeth sucking granny. I am aware that I'm hugely projecting my Bridget dislike Grin

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 14/09/2015 07:14

Gabriel and Alice or Jessica. Dislike Penelope due to the inevitable 'Penny' shortening. Bridget is a nuns name.

ZenNudist · 14/09/2015 07:16

Leo was on my short list. I toyed with Gabriel but just find it girly. It suits some. Roman is odd. I know a 30yo one, it's not so unusual now though.

For girls Emily Alice and Penelope are good though my fave is Alice.

Emelie, Amelie Emilia and Amelia are all better, but less standard but still common.

How about Charlotte or Catherine if you like the classic girls names.

Also suggesting Sebastian and Lucien for boys

diddl · 14/09/2015 07:21

I like all of them except Bridget & Penelope.

HeteronormativeHaybales · 14/09/2015 07:24

I like Gabriel, Leo (this was seriously in the running for our ds2), Emily, Alice and Penelope.

HeteronormativeHaybales · 14/09/2015 07:24

Emelie/Amelie etc will date.

SmugairleRoin · 14/09/2015 07:54

I really don't like Penelope, it's just a bit clunky as a pp said.

Jessica and Bridget are lovely. Emily is ok but just not as good.

Gabriel, Jonah and Leo are nice, I prefer Leon though. Not a fan of Roman at all - Roman Polanski and I wouldn't call a son Greek or Aztec.

SmugairleRoin · 14/09/2015 07:54

Oh I missed Alice! I think that's really pretty.

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 14/09/2015 08:04

I like all your boys names!! I love Gabriel in it's full form but the only nickname that jumps out is Gay and the bullying thing really worried me.

pilates · 14/09/2015 09:29

I don't like the boys names, but really like Jessica. Jess and Jessie also v nice.

How about Jared, Rory or Dexter?

I would worry about the gay nickname for Gabriel too.

juneau · 14/09/2015 09:34

I love Gabriel - that was my choice for DS2 until DH vetoed it.

I also love Penelope. Bear in mind that this will probably get shortened to Penny or Nell, but IME you can choose which one of these gets used at school by listing it on the information form under 'known as'.

mayaknew · 14/09/2015 09:41

Bit of a mixed response but Gabriel seems to be most popular for boy .

The girls names of just can't come round to at all.

I think the problem is that by the time you get to your third you've used the names you love and are now settling for second best.

I want to use a name I love . I just need to find one first ConfusedSad
