Am due next week and am having a real dilemma over a girls name.. I love Willow and have done for some time, but worry about the doot not being particularly willowy! Also love Francesca, but am not sure if it's too strong a name and not girly enough for me.. What do I do???!! OH prefers Francesca.

Francesca

I know a lovely little girl called Willow but it just doesn't have the wonderful sound that Francesca does imo. Actually I find it a bit hard to say tbh. Love Francesca.

HackerFucker22 · 05/09/2015 22:49

Francesca for me too.. Willow is just a bit too "flaky" to my ears.

DansonslaCapucine · 05/09/2015 22:52

I have always loved Francesca.

Mind you, Willow is great too.

Tough one Cefn.

MerryMarigold · 05/09/2015 22:53

I Love Francesca. Not keen on willow, But my gran had a dog called that (I'm serious).

Lunastarfish · 05/09/2015 22:56

Francesca, it's one of my favourite names

(we had a rabbit called willow)

SmugairleRoin · 05/09/2015 23:10

I much prefer Willow but if she grew up to be a dumpy and/or clumsy girl I don't think it'd fit.
So I suppose I'm saying Francesca.

squoosh · 05/09/2015 23:27

Willow trees are very rotund so I don't think a Willow needs to be willowy.

It is quite 'now' though so I'd probably go for Francesca and call her Frankie.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 06/09/2015 00:03

Both gorgeous names. I would wait until she is born and see what suits her

noiwontstoptalking · 06/09/2015 00:15

Francesca.

reuset · 06/09/2015 00:43

Willow is just too trendsville. Another pseudo hippy, Summer-esque name. I like it not.

Francesca, on the other hand, is marvellous.

horsewalksintoabar · 06/09/2015 00:49

Both are lovely. I really love Willow and always joke with DH that we should name our next baby girl Willow- we will never, ever meet her sadly (I am too old and tired now!). But I love Francesca as well. Both really lovely names.

Willow Bay was the Estee Lauder model when I was growing up and I remember just loving her first name so much.

HerRoyalNotness · 06/09/2015 01:06

Do you have a mn picked already? Because Francesca Willow gets both your names and sounds very good

SoMuchToBits · 06/09/2015 01:12

Francesca. Much more classy. And can be shortened to Fran, Frannie, Cesca etc if you wish.

Paddletonio · 06/09/2015 01:57

Francesca Willow is lovely

BeautifulBatman · 06/09/2015 02:03

Willow is bloody awful.
Francesca is lovely.

swimmerforlife · 06/09/2015 04:02

Willow is lovely, not so keen on Francesca.

mathanxiety · 06/09/2015 04:06

How about Willa?

Or Wilhelmina?

I think a Francesca would need a flamboyant sort of personality. I prefer Frances by a long shot.

itsraininginbaltimore · 06/09/2015 04:10

Both beautiful, one is an absolute classic, the other is more modern/trendy but not weird or tacky.

I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Ladypug · 06/09/2015 08:13

Like both but prefer Francesca

Sophronia · 06/09/2015 12:03

I've never been keen on Francesca - I prefer Frances.

BeautifulLiar · 09/09/2015 12:53

I had both of these on my shortlist for DD born in 2012. DH said no to Francesca.

Bit gutted that Willows seem to be popping up everywhere now! I didn't know any when I named her.

chrome100 · 09/09/2015 14:46

I had a hamster called Willow.

NotMeNotYouNotAnyone · 10/09/2015 19:50

i really like the nickname Frankie but the two I know are Fran and Chesca

Wordsaremything · 10/09/2015 22:57

Falconwolf101 · 11/09/2015 19:40
