I have 2ds and am pg with dc3. I've struggled with boys names. But came across Brodie. What do you think? Does it sound a bit made up?

I know a Labrador called that. For that reason, I'm out.

MargoReadbetter · 26/08/2015 20:04

It's ok but there are many other much nicer names around.

Lolimax · 26/08/2015 20:04

I like it but wasn't sure if it would be a boys or girls name.

FoxesSitOnBoxes · 26/08/2015 20:09

I don't like it (sorry) bit American TV character-ish. Doesn't mean you shouldn't use it though.

zippyswife · 26/08/2015 20:14

Yes I wasn't sure if it would be a girls name either.

I've got 5 months to go. Maybe I'll keep thinking!! ..

I like it, I taught a very lovely boy called Brodie!

SillyStuffBiting · 26/08/2015 20:18

I really like it

weebarra · 26/08/2015 20:19

I know a few (boys) but I'm in Scotland and its a bit more common here I think.

jessiepinkman · 26/08/2015 20:21

Love it

AmandaTanen · 26/08/2015 20:22

I love it. I'm in Scotland too.

zippyswife · 26/08/2015 20:22

I love Scottish names! Wasn't sure if it was Scottish. I love Angus and hamish too. But we're not Scottish and I feel a bit of a fraud using a Scottish name!

I think Homeland.

goblinhat · 26/08/2015 20:25

I love it- I know a few Brodies- but again I'm SCottish.

Ripeningapples · 26/08/2015 20:33

Miss Jean. The Prime of. Was there a TV cop series where the characters were called Brodie and Doyle or am I suffering malapropism? They were a bit rough Shock

goblinhat · 26/08/2015 20:38

Deacon Brodie is what springs to mind for me.

weebarra · 26/08/2015 20:40

Crap pub! (but I don't think many people will know who the real Deacon Brodie was?)

SmugairleRoin · 26/08/2015 20:43

Yep I'd think of an American tv character tbh. It's not a bad name, but if people making an American association puts you off don't use it.

Flingmoo · 26/08/2015 20:44

Yes, reminds me of Sgt. Brodie from Homeland... Ginger American soldier turned terrorist...

goblinhat · 26/08/2015 20:47

I wasn't thinking of the pub weebarra- although I do know it.

I was thinking of Deacon Brodie the man who was the inspiration behind the Jekyll and Hyde story.

flotillas70 · 26/08/2015 20:57

It sounds very female.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 26/08/2015 21:02

Don't like. Can't stand surname names. Plus I do agree it is quite pretty and effeminate

LibrariesGaveUsP0wer · 26/08/2015 21:12

I would think Homeland. But it's ok. Not awful. Don't se what's particularly feminine about it either.

TheVeryHungryPreggo · 26/08/2015 22:35

I've only met one Brodie, but she was very nice! Wink

manicinsomniac · 26/08/2015 23:32

I really like it. I've only ever seen it for a girl but it seems like it's more common for a boy. I think I like it more for a boy actually.

Tiggeryoubastard · 26/08/2015 23:35

I know one. The parents are very common. Hideous name.
