I have 2ds and am pg with dc3. I've struggled with boys names. But came across Brodie. What do you think? Does it sound a bit made up?

I know two Brodies. One is a young woman of 20 and one is a little boy of 5. I like it for either sex but i think it sounds more of a girls' name than a boy's name and it's very pretty and unusual for a girl.

IHeartKingThistle · 26/08/2015 23:58

I know a gorgeous little one. Yes from me.

Redglitter · 27/08/2015 03:14

sassyTHEFIRST I wonder if it's the same one I know Smile

Aciderwouldbenice · 27/08/2015 08:51

I really like it, known 2 from work- both little characters

SquirrelledAway · 27/08/2015 09:53

I know several - all boys (in Scotland).

Christelle2207 · 27/08/2015 09:55

I really like it but am biased because I fancy Damian Lewis. For me the connection with Homeland is too strong but it's a good name.

I love Brodie/Brody, for boy or girl.

zippyswife · 27/08/2015 11:16

Thanks all. I like it for a girl too as Im not keen on girlie/cute names for girls. Going to keep it on the list.

I'm due a redhead (redhead myself and both dcs are blonde) and think it could fit quite well!

I'm Scottish too and like other posters have said up here it's definitely a boys name, not common but certainly not unheard of.

Squooshed · 27/08/2015 16:09

Sounds like a surfer dude name.

I don't mind it.

Squooshed · 27/08/2015 16:10

Don't like it for a girl though!

LibrariesGaveUsP0wer · 27/08/2015 16:48

Oh you were thinking for a girl. I hate it for a girl personally. There are plenty of non girly female or unisex names. I hate the trend of taking a male name and then it becoming unacceptable to use that name for a boy.

Cookie122 · 31/08/2015 07:41

Love it! It reminds me of the handsome Brody jenner. Although I do prefer the Brody spelling for a boy

WankerDeAsalWipe · 31/08/2015 19:19

I like it and again, I'm Scottish and I know a few, all boys and it's not a "chavvy" name either.

Rowan or Rory are also traditionally used for redheads if you need some others for choice.

curlycat · 31/08/2015 19:55

I wanted brodie for ds but chickened out at the last minute. Still wish i had used it. Scottish as well

monkeyfacegrace · 31/08/2015 19:56

I want a Brodie. Chief Brodie from Jaws!

reuset · 31/08/2015 20:10

Brody is more popular, Brodie being the variant spelling. Both relatively popular though, and would be top 100 (or thereabouts) combined.

Unisex too, though not so much used for girls in UK (I like unisex but not this name) and transferred surname use. Not my taste, sorry to be dissenter

SirChenjin · 31/08/2015 20:13

It's a Scottish name, know a few up here - I love it. It's a boys name, btw.

aoife24 · 04/09/2015 20:52

I think of Jackson Brodie from Kate Atkinson. I like it as a first name but I'm on Scotland too.

museumum · 04/09/2015 20:55

I'm Scottish and know a male and a female Brodie. The male is probably about 20. The female about 16.

drinkscabinet · 04/09/2015 20:59

Another Scot who says 'first name for a boy' here.

BlahBlahUsername · 04/09/2015 21:24

Is there a Kardashian called Brodie?

I would like it more for a girl.

zippyswife · 04/09/2015 23:25

Well dh has declared he doesn't like it (despite as usual not offering any suggestions for boys or girls names). A kardashian (not that I really know who they are) would put me off too though!
