Hi all,

This is our current short list (or long list) please could you let me know thoughts but be nice! Lol

Ace
Blake
Albert
Avery
Fearon
Joel
Aubrey
Colby
Chase

We are really struggling as we like them all but also worried about them for different reasons. Would love to know top 3 please and any suggestions based on what we like so far?

I think some of them are very American sounding but there's nothing wrong with that (I am biased though as my DS is a Franklin)

I like

Blake
Albert (Bertie)
Chase

Albert

Aubrey

um I've copied and pasted and deleted the ones that are 'no way' Grin

I love Albert though. Smile

You've unusual taste - but don't be afraid to call your little one what you like best.

maybebabybee · 10/08/2015 16:18

There are always going to be people who don't like your choice of name, even if you went for something like Tom or Amelia.

I don't, personally, like the name Amelia but as there are 3 million Amelias running around I assume most people don't agree with me. And it's none of my business anyway.

My favourite girl's name is Sephy. I've had many Hmm looks at that, but I don't care.

Ahemily · 10/08/2015 16:19

Albert & Joel

JRShotMe · 10/08/2015 16:20

Nathaniel/Nate? Not super common but not off the wall either. Kind of a similar type of name to Joel I think.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/08/2015 16:21

Albert or Joel at a push (I hate Albie though). The others are, imvho, really not very nice. Ace and Chase are (again imvho) bloody awful.

Ladypug · 10/08/2015 16:24

Thanks all, thank you hawk for the suggestions, love Cole but doesn't work with our surname hence we came up with Colby. Will have a look at other suggestions too!

Thanks Susan, I guess I do! I didn't realise how unusual my taste is (DH as well) I'm sad about Avery as its probably my front runner but nevermind!

I only like Albert. How about Stanley or Sidney?

BreeVDKamp · 10/08/2015 16:28

I love Avery, but as a girl's name! I know it's traditionally a boy's name, but it's my 80-something year old Nanna's name and popular as a girl's name in the US so if I read yo had an Avery I'd assume girl. Same with Aubrey (except the Nanna part!). Like them both for girls though!

My top 3:
Joel
Blake
And I guess Albert

Supervet · 10/08/2015 16:29

Albert, Blake, Chase

Ladypug · 10/08/2015 16:30

Thanks so much everyone

I think Joel and Albert (Bertie/Albie for short) are both lovely. The others are not really to my taste but obviously it's a personal preference!

SusanMichelson · 10/08/2015 18:10

Avery looks lovely written down, I just find saying it out loud sounds like Aviary.

I think a good test of a name is to say it out loud with its surname and see how much you like it then.

That helped me rule out a few of my weirder ideas Smile

happymummyone · 10/08/2015 18:15

Joel. Just Joel. Sorry.

Allalonenow · 10/08/2015 18:25

Aubrey and Joel are the only two I like.

Ace and Chase are at the bottom of my list.

HahaHarrie · 10/08/2015 18:30

Quite a diverse selection of names you have there! I can't imagine an Ace and Aubrey in the same family.

My favourite is Albert (Bert/Bertie) and Aubrey.

RaphaellaTheSpanishWaterDog · 10/08/2015 18:35

Of those I only like Aubrey (actually DS's middle name and he hates it!) and Albert (but don't like Albie, although Bertie is lovely) which was my late father's name.....

marinacortina · 10/08/2015 18:48

I like Aubrey and Joel, but none of the others.

Ladypug · 10/08/2015 19:12

Thanks everyone! Lol yes quite diverse taste! Some are DHs favourites and some are my faves but we both like all of them. I have tested them all written and out loud, the only one that might not work out loud with our surname is Blake. I thought about the aviary thing but it doesn't really bother me! God it's really hard - you guys have voted top 3 as Joel then Albert then Blake with Aubrey a close fourth!

LovelyBranches · 10/08/2015 19:30

I know a Chase and it doesn't suit him at all. It's the bottom of my list sorry.

LovelyBranches · 10/08/2015 19:32

What about Hendrix?

Ladypug · 10/08/2015 19:33

Ah thank you, not sure about Hendrix, I feel like that's a bit too crazy, even for us!

Skeppers · 10/08/2015 19:34

Avery, Blake and Chase.

I like them! We get a lot of stick for our chosen name but IDGAF! We didn't even ask opinions, just went with or gut. Like you, I just can't get excited about the standard Charlie, Oliver, Ethan type names that are ten-a-penny at the moment.

Ladypug · 10/08/2015 19:43

Thanks Skeppers! Yay a vote for Avery :-) what was your name out of interest?
