Our 4 day old ds3 is currently name-less. We like unusual names. I really like Ferris, and it goes really well with our surname, but have one reservation and wonder if others would think the same. What are your thoughts on Ferris?

I likes it.

TheDuchessofBoxford · 20/07/2015 08:12

Bueller. But I do love that film.

Ilovenannyplum · 20/07/2015 08:14

I second The Duchess Wink
But he's your baby, if you like it, use it!
Congratulations

Ottosaurus · 20/07/2015 08:16

Wheel....

wigglesrock · 20/07/2015 09:29

Bueller.......Bueller..........Bueller.? It will always be synonymous with the film in my mind and I'm not a big fan of the film. I think it's one of those names that people will associate with the film even if they haven't seen the film.

mamaswabey · 20/07/2015 09:32

Yep, Bueller. Then Wheel.

Wafflenose · 20/07/2015 10:00

Wheel.

But it's OK! Use it if you like it and it sounds good with your surname.

RiverTam · 20/07/2015 10:01

Wheel
Bueller

Not keen

Only1scoop · 20/07/2015 10:01

Beuller

Wheel

Then Ferret

Mynd · 20/07/2015 10:40

Yes it's great. As is the film. Go for it.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 20/07/2015 12:34

Yeah wheel came to my mind to, but it's your baby.

HighOverTheFenceLeapsSunnyJim · 20/07/2015 12:36

My cousin is ferris. I don't like it. Bueller, wheel, ferret.

Sparklingbrook · 20/07/2015 12:41

Yy he can even have his own t shirt.

SavoyCabbage · 20/07/2015 13:06

It makes me think of iron. Ferrous iron.

SunnyBaudelaire · 20/07/2015 13:07

Bueller
Wheel
Ferret...

yes all of those.
it is fine as a name, just you have to think of what others will find in it to mock....

CultureSucksDownWords · 20/07/2015 13:14

What about Faris, which is similar but doesn't have all these obvious connections that people have identified?

MissesandMuddles · 20/07/2015 14:31

Thanks for all your comments. Feeling very torn. I'm going to post our shortlist on a new thread and see if that helps narrow it down.

awful name.
poor little mite Sad.
he'll have 9 types of crap kicked out of him at school.
go get yourself a nice first aid kit for when he starts school.

MitzyLeFrouf · 20/07/2015 14:39

Errrr, bit of an overreaction there Calm. Confused

I don't particularly like the name but I don't see that it's a name that would provoke a kicking ffs.

MitzyLeFrouf · 20/07/2015 14:41

I can understand that certain names would provoke teasing but do kids actually get beaten up for having an unusual name?

mrsfuzzy · 20/07/2015 14:45

i know someone has given their dd a second name that rhymes with pisser, i feel for her when school mates find out. it's been a wtf did you call her that for time ?

mrsfuzzy · 20/07/2015 14:45

no, it's not melissa either..

Choccyhobnob · 20/07/2015 16:47

Hmmm I second the suggestion of Faris instead, don't know if it's a real name but it doesn't have the wheel/ferret connotations...

CultureSucksDownWords · 20/07/2015 16:55

Faris is a "real" name, in that it is an arabic name, that works well in English too.

WearingPinkPyjamas · 20/07/2015 17:09

Bueller
