How many Eva's do you know?

So after many months of debate DH and I have got a shortlist for DD due in 3 weeks. Eva is top of the list but we have been warned off it due to popularity. We never wanted a top 10 name and on last ONS stats it was 26.

So it would be great to get a feel for how popular it really is now. How many do you know, what age are they and what area do you live in?

I know 4 under 5. SW London.

MammaFett · 07/07/2015 18:47

Im in Greater Manchester I know 1 who is nearly 2 I think and its my daughters middle name (we chose it after I went into labour on Christmas eve)
I think it's a lovely name. My mum wanted to call my sister Eva, but she already had an Adam.

MrsLeighHalfpenny · 07/07/2015 18:47

Several. And some Ava's too.

Salmiak · 07/07/2015 18:48

Only 1. And she's lovely.

Sleepyfergus · 07/07/2015 18:49

1, aged 6 and were in Central Scotland

ThinkingOutLoud82 · 07/07/2015 18:49

Only one, my daughter who is 4. Don't know of any others with that name though.

NomiMalone · 07/07/2015 18:50

3 Evies

3 Aiobhes

Quite a lot really.

Purplehonesty · 07/07/2015 18:50

None. Only an Ava or three

Everythinghaschanged · 07/07/2015 18:52

None

No Avas

1 Evie

Angelto5 · 07/07/2015 18:55

I know 2 Ava's (about 2 & 4)
Also know a Evelyn known as Evie aged 7.
The only Eva I know is mine but she's an Evangeline (6) but its sometimes shortened to Eva.

BTW I live in the west midlands.

Sophronia · 07/07/2015 19:46

I know lots of Evies but only one Eva.

LadySharrowOfGolter · 07/07/2015 19:48

One, not in UK.

Treesandbees · 07/07/2015 19:55

This is making me feel better! Thanks for the replies so far!

I know two, both lovely. I prefer it a little more to Ava and Evie, which there are about ten of each all under 5 locally.

MrsBungle · 07/07/2015 21:21

I know 2 Eva's
3 Ava's
5 (!) Evie's

russellgrantschin · 07/07/2015 21:23

I literally know about 10 Evas born last year

TenThousandSpoons · 07/07/2015 21:25

I know 3 who are all aged 6 and all lovely Smile

TheRealMaryMillington · 07/07/2015 21:26

An Ava, and Evie, and an Evangeline or two

The only Eva I know is my 76 year old mum

sweetpeame · 07/07/2015 22:09

I'm in north London and only know one, she's about 2 years old. If you like it, go for it.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 08/07/2015 10:30

None. Personally, but everywhere I go I hear mums shouting. Eva Evie Ava, so yes very over used. If that bothers you.

Twistedheartache · 08/07/2015 10:32

West London - 2 under 6 months plus an Evie at dd1's nursery

Seffina · 08/07/2015 10:33

1 Eva, 1 Ava (but not locally), lots and lots of Evies.

I'm in the NW.

JillBYeats · 08/07/2015 10:34

3 Eva's
3 Aoibhean's (Aveen)
1 Evie
2 Ava's

In Ireland (rural too)

I'd say it's quite popular though really trying to avoid popular names is difficult. I named my now teen DD a fairly unusual name at the time - it is now in the top 10. She has never met another around her age but there are several at the playschool where I work.

sleepyhead · 08/07/2015 10:35

2 x Eva
1 x Eve
3 x Evie
2 x Ava

aged between 1 and 6

They're nice names though.

Aixoise · 08/07/2015 13:22

My DD is an Eva. I had always wanted to call my daughter Eva - it wasn't as popular when she was born in 2008 but I don't regret choosing it and still love it. I have only ever met 2 others though - I am in the South East.
