Long boys' names with fab nicknames

We've found out that our bump is blue so I'm looking for boys' names.

Here's a list of my current faves. I like a long name with a short, cool nickname. DD (Marianne) is mainly known by a nickname.

Nathaniel (Nate) - but we can't use this as nephew has a very similar name, which is a shame as it's my fave
Zachary (Zac) - DH's favourite
Rafferty (Rafe/Raff) - I love this but is it getting very popular?
Jared (Jed) - wildcard
Gabriel (Gabe) - I like it but DH will never go for it

I also love Jude - just as it is.

Middle name will be Albert. Our surname is very common so I'd like a more unusual first name, which I think rules out Zachary.

Any inspiration much appreciated!

What about Jesse? Or Flynn?

Good luck, you never know it might just come to you in a moment of clarity!

Zachariah?

ginzillas · 30/05/2015 22:27

Thanks for all the suggestions. I also really like Jesse but don't think I'll get that one past DH.
Alyx80 Congrats on your little Rafferty! Have you had a good reaction to his name so far?

I don't like Rafferty but I do like Rafe. Rafferty just seems too frilly to me.

We were going to have an Ezra partly because we thought that Ezzie was a fantastic short form (had dd instead).

Prefer Zachariah to Zachary.

I really like Marianne.

Love Heath too! Was our first choice for DS all the way through pregnancy until the last 2 weeks. I stupidly got put off by a family members reaction to it when mentioned. I love the name we went with in the end because we can nn it, but still a little wistful for Heath.

ginzillas · 01/06/2015 21:07

I do really like Heath but have realised it doesn't go with our surname which ends with the same 'th' sound.

Still loving Rafferty, Zachary and Jude!

If you want 'A' as the middle name initial, please check his initials don't spell anything which will make his primary school years utter misery!

ZAS

Anything I'm missing with those?

Kit for Christopher is great or Pip for Philip.

ginzillas · 02/06/2015 15:46

Thanks for all the suggestions. None are quite hitting the spot so I think our top three will stay as they are for now.
