Peter

PenguinsandtheTantrumofDoom · 29/05/2015 15:51

Peter, Mark, Paul, David, Timothy.

Basically, check the ONS lists. A lot of what you presume to be tare before you are around lots of small children isn't. Noah, for example. Smile

Seth
Rowan
Alaric
Elijah
Angus
Xavier

Pagwatch · 29/05/2015 15:53

I know three Roans/Rowans under Two.

Pagwatch · 29/05/2015 15:54

I know there Xaviers too.
Angus is my dog.

ShadowFire · 29/05/2015 16:05

I know a Seth and an Angus. Both under 5 yrs.

There's also a David and a Christopher at DC's nursery, which are unusual names for small boys.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 29/05/2015 16:51

My Dn is Richie you don't get many of them now
Kevin
Mike
Derek
Eric
Alan
Gabriel (however becoming more popular now, though)
Steve

Roan is a horse colour (although the spelling might be different).

Strawberry roan is lovely, a sort of mixture of grey and chestnut. Or blue roan, which is more of a Smokey blue colour.

Sorry. For me, calling a child roan would be like calling them palamino.

Do you want unusual names that are new names (such as roan) or unusual in that they are well known but not well used in the current generation?

Congratulations by the way - boys are fab.

WaferInMyCoffee · 29/05/2015 16:59

I know several Rowans which I assume is pronounced like Roan? (Or is it Rone?) one of whom is a girl. I love the name though, but I don't think it is that unusual.

If you want uncommon then go back to the days of Mark, Andrew, Michael, Martin, Patrick, Edward. Not many of those around these days.

If you want unusual, I guess you are looking more for Silas, Octavius, Monty, Lorcan, Atticus, Rafael, Hunter, Bodhi, Dane...

hahahaha

Baby Steve Grin

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 29/05/2015 17:29

There's a Moby, a Joby and a Robeye at my school. (Though Moby has the nickname Dick Grin )

DoItTooJulia · 29/05/2015 17:31

Jago? Goes nicely with Roan.

silveracorn · 29/05/2015 17:35

Cyprian
Fidelis (had a friend at college whose brother was called this and thought it sounded so cool)
Otto
Rafael
Hendrick
Dara
Ezra (love this)
Ezekiel (Zeke)
Zachary/Zachariah
Kemuel

I like Roan but always think of it as a very feminine name.

jn367502 · 29/05/2015 17:44

my little boys name is milo.

hollsm · 29/05/2015 17:47

I do really like Ezra too! I already have an Arlo so need something to go with that..I liked Roan because it's an Irish boys name and we both have Irish descendts..I just can't imagine a baby Kevin or baby Steve...so I guess it's unsual names I'm after Smile

Nigel is very underrated.

Not sure about Boaz though? Is that a typo?

ShadowFire · 29/05/2015 21:08

Boaz is a Biblical name.

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 29/05/2015 21:13

Boaz isn't a typo - it is a biblical name (as ShadowFire rightly points out). I actually know a 7 year old Boaz.
