We still have a little while until we meet our boy but we are pretty much down to these two names. I know we might just make up our minds when we see him but just wanted a quick show of hands on these two namesSmile thanks!

Malachi without contest Ruebens are everywhere. It's a horrible name but it's also popular name and obviously popular for a reason .
Malachi is beautiful though. It makes me think of Malachi Mcourt from Angela's ashes

LeoandBoosmum · 25/05/2015 18:18

Malachi, no question. Really dislike Reuben, doesn't sound nice at all to me.

sweetpeame · 25/05/2015 18:28

I like both actually but would probably go with Malachi.

WishUponAStar88 · 25/05/2015 18:30

Against the grain but I much prefer Reuben - really not keen on Malachi.

soundsystem · 25/05/2015 18:49

Malachi. Reuben makes me think of the sandwich (possibly because I skipped lunch!)

MaraThonbar · 25/05/2015 19:15

Reuben is getting very popular. Go for Malachi if that bothers you.

SoonToBeSix · 25/05/2015 19:17

Malachi, much nicer.

Snowflake15 · 25/05/2015 19:17

Thanks all... Had been unsure whether Malachi was too 'Out there', but hearing you all choose it has made me realise I definitely prefer it to Reuben! And I want something unusual not too popularGrin can't wait for him to come now

Koalafications · 25/05/2015 19:18

I like both but I think I would go with Reuben.

SoupDragon · 25/05/2015 19:27

I prefer Malachi too. Mostly because it is not as popular as Reuban right now.

TidyDancer · 25/05/2015 19:29

Really not keen on Malachi. It's quite clunky to my ears! Reuben is much nicer.

Roomba · 25/05/2015 19:42

I know a Reuben and Malachi who are brothers. Both nice names, though Malachi tends to get shortened to Mal or Mally which I'm not v keen on. I think for that reason I prefer Reuben.

Sophronia · 25/05/2015 22:14

Malachi. Reuben is everywhere.

Fibbertigibbet · 25/05/2015 22:27

Reuben is more popular, but Malachi sounds like someone from a deeply religious American family (siblings Elijah and Jebediah), so it depends which you find more offputting!

QuinoaLenghi · 25/05/2015 22:31

Much prefer Reuben. Malachi will become Mal which I think is a horrid nn. Reuben could be Roo or Ben.

blowinahoolie · 26/05/2015 21:29

Reuben much nicer name. Not very keen on Malachi.

mrstweefromtweesville · 26/05/2015 21:31

Malachi.
Love it.

Reuben's ok but Malachi has style.

Snowflake15 · 27/05/2015 21:47

Thanks, I think this has made me realize im definitely leaning towards Malachi - nn would be Kai

OP posts:
Koalafications · 27/05/2015 21:51

Oh so you would be pronouncing it Mala-Kai then?

HootOnTheBeach · 27/05/2015 21:55

Malachi sounds like the Russian word for 'group of young/small boys' so if you go with that name maybe stay away from eastern Europe?

Snowflake15 · 27/05/2015 22:38

Yes Koala, were you thinking of Malachy? Hoot no plans to move to Eastern Europe luckily Grin

My cat's called Malachy, after Malachy McCourt (pronounced eee not eye at the end). Lovely name, you probably didn't want to know it belongs to a cat tho Blush. His sister is Megan.

I think Malachy and Megan would be great names for an actual brother and sister...whistful sigh....

Devora · 27/05/2015 22:49

I like them both - Malachi is great.

BlueBananas · 27/05/2015 22:50

Really surprised that people are preferring Malachi - it is a staple chav name where I'm from
I would 100% go for Reuben, but against the grain again here - I don't know a single Reuben, it would be very unusual where I live

Koalafications · 27/05/2015 22:53

In that case I would go with Reuben. Malachi is an awful name.
