Wanted: girls name. Must be fabulous.

Why am I pregnant again ffs? Stupid Catholic upbringing. My body will an unsalvageable wreck and we will be living in penury for the next two decades.

Anyway. Need a girls name. I am utterly devoid of inspiration, being interested only in grab bags of Skips and having naps.

Already have an Agnes and an Enid. Surname Stephens.

Dislike: frilliness; 'ah' endings; 'classic' names.

Like: fabulous names. I was keen on Ramona the last go-round, but think I might have lost my love for it.

Any suggestions?

Elspeth!

charlyn · 25/05/2015 11:36

Ramona is nice!

How about.. Gretel, Maeve, Iris, Daphne, Bryony, Margot, Tess

MaureenMacnally · 25/05/2015 11:39

Elspeth is nice, but potential for nn Elsie makes it absolute no-no.

To my mind Beryl and Maud would be in the same category as Enid and Agnes.

CrystalMcPistol · 25/05/2015 11:43

I do love Ramona though so urge you to reignite your love for that name.

Gretel - yes, added to list.

Maeve - No. Too Irish. Too sweet

Iris - No. No flower names.

Daphne - As above. But also not 'hard' enough, iyswim?

Bryony - Absolutely not. Too sweet.

Margot - great name. But have an Agnes and an Enid already. Would become a weird Despicable Me thing.

Tess - No. Too sweet.

I like Maude. But too connected with the poem 'Sister Maude' for me. (Not as weird as it sounds - am an English teacher and its on GCSE syllabus)
