Callum - Best

Rueben - posh. Wears those ankle sock suspender things.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 22/05/2015 22:45

Callum - naughty boy

Reuben - posh boy

moodyblues · 22/05/2015 22:54

Both naughty boys, Callum with a horrid haircut and Reuben has an evil glint in his eye.

superzero · 22/05/2015 22:57

What singersgirl said

TandemFlux · 22/05/2015 23:23

Callum - naughty monkey
Reuben - well behaved, middle class

Allthatnonsense · 22/05/2015 23:59

Um, not great names in this part of the country. Certainly not "posh".

Alisvolatpropiis · 23/05/2015 00:12

Callum - late 80's/early 90's
Reuben - will date to this decade terribly. Or the painter.

bumblebeeee · 23/05/2015 02:31

Reuben is quite downmarket where I am. Most certainly not posh!! Am really shocked by the posh comments!
It is also considered very hillbilly /redneck in America.
I agree that it will sound awfully dated, it's the Jason of this era.

FrizzyPig · 23/05/2015 06:31

Callum- I've never met one that wasn't naughty. Sorry - I know we shouldn't judge on names but this is probably the one name that I would.

Reuben- wasn't that the name of an old man who was seeing Helen in Neighbours many years ago?

I would go with Reuben over Callum if I had to choose one of them.

OurGlass · 23/05/2015 06:35

Callum - council estate/young mum/chav/babies wearing Nike trainers

Reuben - cute and cool

PrincessOfChina · 23/05/2015 06:36

Apparently there's a sandwich called a Reuben - pastrami/some kind of beef, pickles, cheese, salad leaves, mustard. Something like that.

I only heard about it after we named DS Reuben a few weeks ago.

Gumblossom · 23/05/2015 06:39

I have a Callum and he is a lovely, talented musician and sensitive young man. I have a very good friend who has a grown up son called Rueben: he is a model citizen, gentle and kind and very lovely.

I love both the names. Unfortunately, in Australia, many kids of my son's vintage (he's 24) were also called Callum. It was a popular name at the time. Rueben, not so much.

Charis1 · 23/05/2015 06:40

callum - chav

reuben -Jewish

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 23/05/2015 06:40

Reuben makes me think of that film, is it Along Came Polly? Where the spaniard who sleeps with his wife calls him "Hoooben"

littleostrich · 23/05/2015 06:46

I used to work in a school and all the Callums were really naughty.

Reuben makes me think of Ben Stiller's character in Along Came Polly. I've never met a Reuben.

ToastedOrFresh · 23/05/2015 06:55

Callum sounds a bit like callous

Reuben 'just a hungry white boy with no name Reuben James' is the Kenny Rogers song it reminds me of too. Just like a poster upthread.

lastqueenofscotland · 23/05/2015 07:07

I've met two highly highly unpleasant Callum's, one if them literally a creature, so I don't like the name!! I like ruben a lot :)

higgidypiesarethebusiness · 23/05/2015 07:14

Reuben - Jewish. Nice name.
Callum - Scottish, ok but prefer Cameron

Suzietwo · 23/05/2015 07:16

I've a 5.5 year old Reuben. Pretty cross that it's got so popular!

SoldierBear · 23/05/2015 07:25

Callum - wet
Reuben - swarthy with an abundance of body hair and long toe nails. I don't know why the name conjures up that picture for me, but the is what popped into my mind / sorry!

DamsonInDistress · 23/05/2015 18:28

Callum - my youngest son. Bright, funny, impulsive, kind, talkative, gentle, sociable, resilient, dramatic.

Reuben - Jewish, generally posh, love the sound it makes in the mouth, strong, independent, dignified.

SommerenAldrigKommer · 23/05/2015 19:12

Scottish, Old Testament.

I like them both

Dismalfuckers · 23/05/2015 19:14

Scottish

Religious

MamaLazarou · 23/05/2015 19:38

Callum: shaven-haired child wearing school trousers and a filthy white vest.

Reuben: a sandwich.

ItsAllKickingOffPru · 23/05/2015 19:55

Both nice names, prefer Reuben.
