Weve decided on Joseph for a boy and Matilda for a girl. Im aware Joseph is popular but I dont know any.
Our daughters are Isabelle and Eliza.
Eliza was chose by my nan who was dying and it has suddenly become so popular!
Is Matilda becoming popular too? X

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
YouMakeMyHeartSmile · 22/05/2015 09:24

I think it's been quite popular for a while... I know 4, ranging from 6 to a couple of months old.

dementedpixie · 22/05/2015 09:26

I know 1 Joseph who is 11 and no Matildas. My grandpa was Joseph.

WhatWouldBlairWaldorfDo · 22/05/2015 09:28

I know 4 josephs, aged from 1-8

I know 2 matildas, both born in the last 6months.

FlyDragonfly1 · 22/05/2015 09:29

I know a few Josephs;
A 16yr old, an 18yr old, a 25yr old and a 2yr old.

I only know one Matilda and she's 20.

ems1910 · 22/05/2015 09:30

I only know 2 Josephs. One is my nephew who is 8 and there is a Joseph (Joe) in my son's class, also 8.

I know one Matilda who is 6 today!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 22/05/2015 09:33

I don't know any children of either. I know lots of Josephs but they are adults

BreeVDKamp · 22/05/2015 09:44

Our imminent DC will be Joseph if a boy, don't know any other than one adult one, although that doesn't mean much as only know about 5 babies. He will be known by a shortening though (not Joe)

VioletVelvet · 22/05/2015 10:01

I know quite a lot of Josephs, from babies to adults. I don't know any Matildas.

Shnickyshnackers · 22/05/2015 10:03

I know two Matilda's, 4 and 2. I don't know any young Joseph's

SycamoreMum · 22/05/2015 10:05

Two Joesph's and one Matilda. Matilda went by Matty though. Her name was Matilda Maffy Natalia

BeautifulStars93 · 22/05/2015 10:50

Yes our will be Joey not Joe as I dislike Joe x

OP posts:
Zzzsnatcher · 22/05/2015 10:54

I know a 5 year old Joseph and a 1 year old Matilda.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 22/05/2015 10:54

My teenagers have lots of friends called Joseph and Matilda. Not sure about under 13's.

If you dislike Joe though, I wouldn't use Joseph.

YouMakeMyHeartSmile · 22/05/2015 10:55

I meant Matildas in my post by the way. Don't know any Joseph's but know 4 young Matilda's.

itstheyearzero · 22/05/2015 10:59

I have a 6 year old Joseph. He is the only one in his class and the only one I have come across over the last 6 years. Most people call him by his full name, very rarely is he called Joe. I think its popular but not too common at the moment due to the resurgence of names like Archie and Alfie. I know loads of those!

It's a good, strong name, and it will never go out of fashion, so I say go for it!

AutumnFades · 22/05/2015 10:59

I know several Josephs - all Joe except one. They are all under 11. I know two Matildas who are both teenagers.

thehumanjam · 22/05/2015 11:01

I know lots of Matilda's between the age of 2-11, I also know lots of Joseph's but they are aged 8+

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 22/05/2015 11:01

I know several Matildas, mostly known as Tillie. Admittedly I'm in Australia, but it's certainly very popular here.

I also know about 4 Joseph/Joes under 10 but half of them are from the UK.

yesiwouldlikefrieswiththat · 22/05/2015 11:01

I know 2 Josephs in their 20s and a 6 year old

don't know any Matildas but I know a 1 year old Tilly.

Lovely choices btw Smile

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 22/05/2015 11:01

Sorry - Matildas I know are all under 10.

spiderlight · 22/05/2015 11:02

I know two Josephs (one known as Joe), both 8, and a one-year-old Matilda.

Zzzsnatcher · 22/05/2015 11:21

Actually totally forgot know 2 Matilda's and lots of Tilly's I suspect shortened version but don't joke for certain

FatWalda · 22/05/2015 11:43

Joseph is quite an ageless name, found in every generation. He will almost certainly be called Joe whether you like it or not, though. Joey is all right for a child, but not an adult. I have a cousin whom we all called Joey when we were kids, but he insisted on Joe from his teen years onwards.

I know of two young Matildas, and a Tilly who may be a Matilda in disguise.

BreeVDKamp · 22/05/2015 11:48

Yay, I agree that Joseph is ageless and strong :) DH chose it, it's a bit plain for me, but i like that it is not whacky and not super common. I also don't mind Joe or Joey.
Good choice OP :)
