Urgent Help Please

Hi, am looking for some urgent help please.

My son was born a week early following a section but we have no name!!!

We live in Scotland and I am called Nuala (no one can pronounce it never mind spell it) and my husband Neil and we have a 6 year old son called Aaron. Our surname is Woodside (a bit of mouthful).

My new son is now 2 days old and we just cannot decide on a name. We have considered Lucas, Euan. Marcus , Logan and Adam amongst others but just cannot decide.

We quite like a short name that cannot be shortened and would prefer a more powerful name that has nothing to do with celebrities and do not want anything too obscure.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as we feel we are under pressure to come up with an name from family and friends.

Many many thanks in advance.

Congratulations OP! Flowers And relax. No need for urgency, you have ages before you need to register your son.

So you have an Irish name, your husband has an Irish/Scottish name, do you have a preference for Irish or Scottish names?

Allalonenow · 03/05/2015 01:06

Magnus is a great name.

I like Marcus from your list.

maplebaconchips · 03/05/2015 01:41

Adam and Euan sound too much like Aaron. Marcus is really nice.

Elllimam · 03/05/2015 01:41

Adam is very popular in the west of scotland. At one point there were 3 in a row at our Jo jingles class. I like Max or Lucas.

FoamyOne · 03/05/2015 04:17

Actually she doesn't have all that long - you only get 3 weeks in Scotland to register a birth.

I like

Many many thanks for your suggestions so far.

We have no real preference over having a Scottish/Irish link. The problem with my name (Nuala) like a lot of Irish names is that no one really knows how to pronounce it. I quite liked Euan as opposed to the more English Ewan but we have a good friend called that And am not sure about calling our son the same name.

We liked Adam and Nathan but did not really want x2 A or N Woodsides in the house. We also liked Marcus but wonder if it's a bit of an old more obscure name.

I am feeling a lot better now we have some great suggestions coupled with your views on the names we have looked at before. It is strange but we had a handful of girls names picked but like with our first bit really struggle with boys names.

So mAny new names to consider from above. The first to certainly jump out at me and one we had not even looked /considered before was Magnus.

Many thanks for your help and keep them coming.

Although I wonder if Magnus is even more obscure than Marcus.

Many thanks for all your help. We have narrowed it down to :-
Magnus Woodside
Lucas Woodside
Euan Woodside
Ethan Woodside

Any thoughts on what goes best given I am Nuala my husband Neil & son Aaron?

VixxFace · 03/05/2015 10:43

Euan to close to Aaron.
Magnus is terrible. Lucas is lovely, Ethan is okay not my style but is my nephews name so warming to it.

MediumOrchid · 03/05/2015 10:46

I think Aaron and Ethan go really well together.
