Middle name- Snow

Due in November and if we are having a girl I really love this as a middle name. It grew on me much watching a TV programme where one of the main characters is called Snow. First name will be either Alana or Bryony.

Any other wintery suggestions would be great :)

Gorgeous go for it. You could even use it as first name and it wouldn't bring any problems. That's the brilliant thing with names now. Anything goes.
Children can be born after days of the week, months of the year, countries, flowers, seasons, planets so why not the weAther.

I'm immersed in once upon a time at the moment and it really works as a name in that, and I think it could work as a middle name.

Eva Holly is lovely but if we decide on Bryony for first name I think that's too many Y's! princessvikki that's a shame, my DH is a bit "meh" about it but he really doesn't seem to bothered by middle names so he will happily go along with it lol squoosh I think Winter is pretty also :) and yes Ilive I agree I think it would be just fine as a first name!

Eira (eye-ra) is Welsh for snow... and is a popular girls' name.

How about Khione? Minor Greek goddess of blizzards.

Eira is lovely, if you can pronounce it correctly (Eh-ee-ra). Snow is different, definitely unusual to Holly, but could certainly work.

From watching Game of Thrones my mind goes to 'bastard'.

I like it. I know two girls with the middle names Sky and Storm. Makes a change from Rose!

I considered it as a first name! I would have gone for it if dd2 was born in winter.

I work with a Chinese girl called Snow - I think it's a translation from her Chinese name. Either way, I love it!

I like it too, very pretty. Holly is a bit too Christmassy unless she is a real Christmas baby (unlikely if due in November). I know of a few Welsh girls called Gweneira that is Snow White translated.

Once, it's not 'sort' of wrong, it's simply the wrong pronunciation. Doesn't matter in English I guess, but it kind of takes away from the translation, which is the whole point. In any case, Snow is a perfectly acceptable name, and a nice variation on the usual wintery names.

Yes Snow would be a nice name, why not? Otherwise...

I think any name can be used as a mn as realistically apart from the birth announcement, and at weddings, when do you really hear people's mn?
If you love it i wouldn't give it a second thought as to using it.
If your child doesn't love it, it won't matter for the above reasons.

As a first name though i personally do not like it as it doesn't feel like a real name, probably because the only Snow i 'know' is Snow White

Just wanted to add... Eira can really be properly pronounced either way. It's generally dependent on region/accent so if you prefer one way or the other it doesn't make it 'wrong'.

cleas, as a proficient Welsh speaker, and being very familiar with many Welsh accents, I've never come across the different pronunciation. I could be wrong of course, I'm only basing it on the fact that Welsh is a phonetic language, therefore the sounds of words and letters never change, even if the dialect does.
