Dh has suggested this, I don't hate it but wondered what the general feeling was towards this name..... 34 weeks now and I'm done thinking about this now!
Others in the running are

Sidney
Rupert
Henry
Hugo
Francis ( frank)
Mn probably David or something wild like bear or huck :)

Hector is fab. I know a Hector. Sidney is the sly cousin in Thom Sawyer. Hugh sounds middle aged. Hugo is a great dog's name. Go for Hector : strong name!

Rhubarbgarden · 20/04/2015 18:17

Hector sounds like a comedy name to me.

I like Hugo and Francis.

Christelle2207 · 20/04/2015 18:56

I think it's fab but I'm not brave enough to use. I would worry about the nn "Heck".

FishCanFly · 20/04/2015 19:03

Hector is great. I also love Frank.

BunnyLebowski · 20/04/2015 19:04

Hector is a fantastic name.

I have a Frank so obviously love that too Grin .

Not keen on the rest of your list.

Allthatnonsense · 20/04/2015 19:11

Love Hector and Hugo.

EggsAreNotFromCows · 20/04/2015 19:15

The verb "to hector" would be problematic for me
As would "he's a bit of a Rupert"
Love Francis though

evertonmint · 20/04/2015 19:15

Awful! "To hector" means "to talk to someone in a bullying manner". Why would you want give a child a name like that?

SisterMoonshine · 20/04/2015 19:17

The pleasure people will take when they say they are going to "Hector's house" will get tiresome for him.

cosysocks · 20/04/2015 19:18

Love Hector! Like Francis but not Frank.

Feckeggblue · 20/04/2015 19:23

Love hector! Like them all except Sidney and prefer Francis to frank

Whenwillwe3meetagain · 20/04/2015 19:26

Hector is a great name (I have one!) we liked the Greek myth connection as he was a great warrior. Be brave and use it!

stormyboots · 20/04/2015 19:33

I love the name Hector, it feels very similar to Henry in style but not nearly as popular.

Kittykatmacbill · 20/04/2015 19:33

Love hector, Hugo and Francis all on my long list that dh vetoed!

Shesparkles · 20/04/2015 19:37

The rector at my secondary scho was called Hector, so he was "Hector the rector" Grin
He was a nice man though

Lunastarfish · 20/04/2015 19:53

I love hector when said with a spanish/Mexican accent - ectorrr I don't like it with a British accent.

Hugo or frank are better

mrscatmad31 · 20/04/2015 20:14

Love Hector!

GatoradeMeBitch · 20/04/2015 20:18

I love Hector! Wasn't he the cat with the headphones on in the Heathcliff cartoons? I love that name Smile

GatoradeMeBitch · 20/04/2015 20:19

Oops, no google tells me that was Riff-Raff, Hector was another one. Still a great name though!

GatoradeMeBitch · 20/04/2015 20:20

(No, actually it was Wordsworth, or maybe Mungo, whatever, sorry for derailing...)

Noggie · 20/04/2015 20:21

Hector is great! Also love Hamish, Gilbert etc!

IvoryMadonna · 20/04/2015 20:37
