Still stuck for names so please bear with me. What's your thoughts on this?

Love it!

But it's a mix of Hinge and Brackett, and the Chalet School. Are you OK with those?

SavoyCabbage · 20/04/2015 10:29

I thought you were asking about a prescription drug.

CaptainFabulous · 20/04/2015 10:30

I don't think it sounds particularly nice, it looks very nice written down either.

What other names are in your mind?

redcapsforteeth · 20/04/2015 10:30

I dont know the reference?

OP posts:
CaptainFabulous · 20/04/2015 10:30

Sorry, doesnt look nice written down

BackCrackandNappySack · 20/04/2015 10:32

Oh god no, it's bloody awful. I don't mind a bit of old lady chic but Evadne is a step to far. You may as well pick Enid or Gertrude.

redcapsforteeth · 20/04/2015 10:39

Is it an old lady name?

OP posts:
BackCrackandNappySack · 20/04/2015 10:41

Yes!

squoosh · 20/04/2015 10:50

I only know it from the Chalet School. Have never heard is said aloud. Is it pronounced ee-vad-nee?

redcapsforteeth · 20/04/2015 10:52

Yes and nay

Ariadne

Daphne

Evangeline

not Evadne

treaclesoda · 20/04/2015 10:55

I quite like it. But then I quite like Enid and Gertrude (makes me think of Gertie from ET) as well, which clearly aren't getting the thumbs up either Grin

BackCrackandNappySack · 20/04/2015 10:56

Daphne and Evangeline are lovely but Evadne and Ariadne are awful. But then I can't stand Adelaide either and everyone on MN seems to love that. Confused

squoosh · 20/04/2015 10:58

But then I quite like Enid and Gertrude

I bet you like Beryl too.

TheRealMaryMillington · 20/04/2015 11:00

I only like Ariadne because I once knew a lovely young woman who did work experience with us. She was exquisite and now for me, her name always will be.

I don't like Adelaide (nn Ada), or Gertrude. My granny was called a knockout combo of both, which she hated

treaclesoda · 20/04/2015 11:03

squoosh I think I draw the line at Beryl Grin Although I do like Mabel Blush

When I wrote out a list of potential baby names and handed it to my husband he read it and said 'those are joke names aren't they? Where is the real list?'

squoosh · 20/04/2015 11:07

Poor husband was expecting a list with Lauren and Jennifer on it. Grin

GooseyLoosey · 20/04/2015 11:12

Agree with others - too old lady for me

Rhubarbgarden · 21/04/2015 13:22

I like it. I think it could sound very pretty on a little girl once you get past the Hinge and Bracket association.

IsadoraQuagmire · 21/04/2015 15:58

I like it. I don't think I've ever heard a Greek name I didn't like...

namechangeEvadnesmama · 21/04/2015 16:19

I have one! It really suits her and is a lovely name to say hundreds of times a day. Clearly I'm biased but I would recommend it. I am currently despairing of finding a name for DC2 that I love half as much.

squoosh · 21/04/2015 16:26

Is it ee-vad-nee or evvad-nee?

namechangeEvadnesmama · 21/04/2015 16:39

Not a linguist but I'd describe it as eh-VAD-nee.

ThursdayLast · 21/04/2015 16:41

Never ever heard or seen it before.

What's it's story?

IsadoraQuagmire · 21/04/2015 16:44

Thursday There are 4 or 5 different Evadnes in Greek mythology.
