Arabella v Georgia

Not saying yet who loves which name, but there's a deadly battle between DP and I regarding these names. We have two 'safety names' which we're both a bit 'meh' about, as we both have real love for one of the above. Which do you prefer? I may drip feed something in later...

Like Arabella if it remains in its full form but risks being abbreviated to Bella which, while pretty, is very popular. Georgia is nice too and perhaps a little more unusual.

Love Georgia, Arabella is OK but becomingv v popular round here. I wonder if it might feel a bit faddy in ten years time?

stormyboots · 12/04/2015 19:56

Quite few Arabella's around here too and a lot of Bella's.
Georgia would be more unique.

HoldenCaulfield80 · 12/04/2015 20:05

Georgia's lovely, Arabella sounds a bit of a drip Wink

timelyreminder · 12/04/2015 20:15

gaahhnonicknamesleft · 12/04/2015 20:16

Georgia

Sophronia · 12/04/2015 20:16

Georgia, although I prefer Georgina.

Bowlersarm · 12/04/2015 20:17

Arabella

Auntieveronica · 12/04/2015 20:17

Georgia. What about Aurora instead of Arabella

janesaysl · 12/04/2015 20:19

Georgia, and it's very Masters appropriate if dad's a golfer Wink

janesaysl · 12/04/2015 20:21

Or mom obviously Smile

Maz431 · 12/04/2015 20:22

Georgia

Auntieveronica · 12/04/2015 20:25

Prefer Annabelle, Clarabel, Mabel,

Norfolkandchance1234 · 12/04/2015 20:28

Arabella actually makes me wince, so I therefore choose Georgia for you.

LadyStark · 12/04/2015 20:38

Georgia is lovely, less keen on Arabella.

DramaAlpaca · 12/04/2015 20:39

Arabella

Not keen on Georgia, but I like Georgina.

HollyBen · 12/04/2015 20:59

Georgia for me. Arabella feels a bit clunky to me, though i do like nn Bella

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 12/04/2015 21:05

Georgia for me. I'm not keen on Bella at all, and the only Arabella I've ever come across is the one in the Enid Blyton Naughtiest girl books, who is a very dislikeable character.

IvoryMadonna · 12/04/2015 21:13

And Arabella Donn in Jude The Obscure, not really a good character model, lol.

Eastpoint · 12/04/2015 21:16

I knew an Arabella whose nickname was Addy when I was at school.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 12/04/2015 21:19

Georgia. I actually like Bella and Belle but Arabella leaves me cold.

velourvoyageur · 12/04/2015 21:24

Arabella sounds very Enid Blyton! Pretty. Maybe a bit too pretty.

Georgia is a fabulous name. Strong and interesting and suits any age too.
I knew a lovely and fiercely intelligent Georgia at sixth form though so might be biased!

Wafflenose · 12/04/2015 21:27

Arabella

Smugnogplease · 12/04/2015 21:30

Arabella is beautiful

yumyumpoppycat · 12/04/2015 21:30

I like Georgia a lot. I called dd arabella for a few hours when she was born as my df was keen for her to be called Bella and dp liked Ari, but I decided I didn't like it it didn't suit her and changed it.
