Name A or Name B?

DH and I have narrowed it down to two names for each gender - don't know what we are having yet.

I know everybody will say 'just wait and see what he/she looks like when they are here' but DH and I are planners, and would at least like a favourite ahead of time!

The names are:

Conrad or Stellan (middle name Wallace)

Cordelia or Artemis (middle name June)

Which one do you like better for each gender? Any other comments/suggestions for combinations?

Conrad and Cordelia would be my picks.

Stellan sounds quite feminine to me (only because of Stella being quite a popular name, I know) and I think of Artemis as male (again, I know it's not)

Quasilulu · 25/03/2015 01:35

What maniac said.

Quasilulu · 25/03/2015 01:36

Bloody autocorrection. Sorry manic Blush

rootypig · 25/03/2015 01:55

I love Stellan and Cordelia!

excellent autocorrect Quasi Grin

MerryMarigold · 25/03/2015 02:01

Sorry, I don't prefer any of them. Conrad is the best. Wallace is great for a first name and I prefer June to the other girls names. I won't say my full opinion because you are pregnant and hormonal! But if you and dh like them, then go ahead.

FatSwan · 25/03/2015 02:23

Stellan and Cordelia! All the best!

sweetpeame · 25/03/2015 08:01

Conrad is on my list for DS1 so my vote is for that. Not crazy aboit either of your girls names. I thought Artemis was a boy's name. Even if it isn't I think it has the potential to confuse a lot of people.

Tess985 · 25/03/2015 08:59

I think Artemis is great, I've always thought it was a bit too posh for us to carry off but I still adore it

I think Conrad is my pick of your boys names.

lovesmycake · 25/03/2015 09:02

Conrad and Cordelia

Only1scoop · 25/03/2015 09:03

Conrad and Cordelia

autumnmoon · 25/03/2015 09:04

Definitely Conrad and Cordelia.

I agree with others that Stellan sounds a little feminine and Artemis sounds a little masculine.

VT82 · 25/03/2015 09:19

Agree with Manic and co.

After thinking about it, I know Temple of Artemis = one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, Artemis = the goddess of hunting and the moon. But the Artemis in the Artemis Fowl books is a boy, and it doesn't sound like a girl's name.

And Stellan = Stella + n to me.

Sorry, but I'm another Conrad/Cordelia!

ishallnamehimsquishy · 25/03/2015 09:28

I quite like Stellan, but prefer Conrad.

Cordelia for a girl.

glittertits · 25/03/2015 09:43

Oh, I'm not particularly hormonal! Do your worst Merry - I'm a big believer in hearing the worst somebody can say about the name. If I still love it, it is a good indication that I should go for it.

As for the gender issue, I'm actually looking for names with a unisex feel (without being a unisex name iyswim). I'm leaning away from Cordelia as I feel it is too girly.

Can't say I'm very fussed about the Artemis Fowl books. Artemis is a girls name.

DH has floated Antigone this morning which I like very much.

Conrad and Artemis

tomandizzymum · 25/03/2015 10:14

Another vote for Conrad and Cordelia. Cordelia has many nicknames you can use too like Delia, Dilly, Lia....

tomandizzymum · 25/03/2015 10:18

Just read you like a unisex name, Cordelia is girly. So would have to be Artemis then I guess.

DramaAlpaca · 25/03/2015 10:48

Conrad & Cordelia from your original list.

I like Antigone - Tiggy for a nickname is great.

MerryMarigold · 25/03/2015 10:48

Cordelia is SUPER girly! I don't mind Artemis, but just feel those Greek ones are a bit too try-hard. I know a Persephone .

If you really want my opinion, I think they sound like you are trying to be posh. If you are REALLY posh, then ok. But if you are trying to be posh (live in a trendy area of London in an overpriced Victorian terrace) then they are just a bit...predictable, despite being unusual. But maybe I am doing you an injustice here.

How about Mary?!

tinymeteor · 25/03/2015 11:03

Like them all except Artemis. I don't think Stellan is a great fit wih Wallace (which I'm guessing is a family name so non-negotiable) as they both have the double-L. Conrad Wallace scans better, for me. Cordelia June is lovely! (Speaking as someone who lives in an overpriced Victirian terrace... Hmm)

PandoraFree · 25/03/2015 11:13

I absolutely love Stellan Wallace and I quite like the double LL sounds!

Cordelia is gorgeous and it's got great nickname potential! (Delia, Cordy, Lia, Dee, maybe lily? and with the middle name you could have CJ!)

crapfatbanana · 25/03/2015 11:19

Conrad and Cordelia

Ziglinda · 25/03/2015 11:29

I like Artemis. First impressions of the other names - Cordelia makes me think of cordial and cords. Conrad sounds harsh and seeing the word 'con' in the name doesn't seem positive. Stellan will be misheard I think and sounds like the word 'stolen' said wrongly.

Sophronia · 25/03/2015 11:45

Conrad Wallace and Cordelia June.

MyBootsAreMuddy · 25/03/2015 11:53

I like Tiggy as a nn for Antigone.
Not too keen on the others but would say Conrad if had to choose.
