Please tell me which you prefer between Xanthe and Taryn. Middle name Joy for grandma Joyce.

Can the is nice but I like Taryn. Unusual but not out there IYSWIM. Smile

wesH · 24/01/2015 23:31

Taryn. i hate to say it bc i knew a hideously racist girl named Taryn at university, but Xanthe is unbearable.

Fanjango · 24/01/2015 23:31

Xanthe is nice....bloomin iPhone autocorrect Grin

IHeartKingThistle · 24/01/2015 23:35

I really like Taryn. It sounds kind.

Apart from the one wesH knew, obviously!

DramaAlpaca · 24/01/2015 23:40

I like Taryn best of the two, but both are nice names - different but not too much so.

squoosh · 25/01/2015 02:10

Taryn.

Xanthe is a bit too 'drama teacher with lots of wafty silk scarves urging people to heal their chakras'

TheCowThatLaughs · 25/01/2015 02:15

Taryn, or Tamryn is nice too

Jackieharris · 25/01/2015 02:21

SnoringNorma · 25/01/2015 02:38

Xanthe is nice. Not heard of Taryn before, but it doesn't make much of an impression.

Guin1 · 25/01/2015 05:27

Prefer Xanthe. It's on my short list.

I'd probably say Xanthe, because I knew one at school who was very nice.

Taryn I've not heard of so it sounds a bit made up to me (I'm sure it's not).

TeaAndALemonTart · 25/01/2015 08:26

Is it pronounced Zan Fee?

camsie · 25/01/2015 08:27

Taryn

Penguinotterfoxbadger · 25/01/2015 08:49

Taryn

ButEmilylovedhim · 25/01/2015 09:22

Xanthe definitely. It's beautiful. I sometimes think dd would have been a lovely Xanthe but I love her actual name too.

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 25/01/2015 09:46

Surely more like Zan-thee teaandalemoncake. There's no 'F'.

I'm going to go against the grain and say I prefer Xanthe.

Becles · 25/01/2015 09:48

Xanthe

SomewhereIBelong · 25/01/2015 09:49

I'm a traditionalist - so neither appeal to me... but if pushed Taryn sounds more "normal"... Blush

Sophronia · 25/01/2015 10:33

Xanthe. Taryn sounds a bit made up.

bouncingbelle · 25/01/2015 10:48

Taryn. Xanthe just reminds me a party island, whereas all the (few) Tatyn's
I've know have been strong independent women.

TeaAndALemonTart · 25/01/2015 10:49

I thought it must be Fee otherwise it's a Greek island isn't it?

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 25/01/2015 11:22

The Greek Island is pronounced with a 't' sound rather than a 'th' though isn't it?
