Baby boy Chester or Oscar

Thoughts on both names ladies? Using this as a forum as only hubby and I know names. Both our mothers are school teachers and don't want to know the name of our baby until he's here as associate so many names with rotten pupils haha!

Our surname starts with an E x

When I was a child my Mum called boobs 'chesters' so my vote goes to Oscar.

I vote Oscar too.

Next door's cat is called Chester (a big ginger Tom)
My sister's dog is called Oscar.

I don't love Chester but think Chet would be a really cool nickname.

Oscar is very popular and a nice name. Personally I don't like the name Chester. How about Charles (you can call him Chester as a nn and see how you like it?)

No love for chester!! Thank you as I really don't want a name that everyone including our lovely boy will hate! Appreciate Oscar is popular although not so much where we live.

Any love for Ashton?

Chester much better than Oscar as there will be 5 more Oscars in his class at school. If that doesn't bother you then choose Oscar.

I've never met any Oscars and think it's very nice. Not keen on Ashton or Chester.

Not a fan of Chester (it's a place name not a child's name for me) or Ashton. Oscar is lovely. Lots of them about but that's for a good reason and if it doesn't bother you then it doesn't matter.

Chester brings to mind an oldish American businessman, who probably voted for Ronald Reagan and the Bushes. This may not be logical.

Oscar and Ashton are both fine.

I like Chester although find both names a bit 'doggy'.

But maybe that's because I've known dogs with these names

Oscar is lovely. Chester is too well-known as a place name.Ashton is better but nowhere near as cool as Oscar.

Oscar is nice but popular although as you say, not everywhere.

I prefer Aston or Austin to Ashton.

Chester reminds me of a rather well endowed 70s porn star called Chesty Morgan. Sorry!

There is a village called Ashton just outside Chester. Just wondering if you're from there and have a reason for liking those names.

No no we are in scotland! Chester, Oscar and Ashton all of which aren't that popular.

Are you in Glasgow? If I met a Glaswegian child called Ashton I'd wonder if they'd been conceived after a boozy night down Ashton Lane. Or possibly conceived in Ashton Lane.

I'd assume any child named Chester or Ashton in Scotland had English parents for some reason but not so with Oscar.
