Amoura? I really love it, but I think everyone will hate it, not that I am too fussed ( not even pregnant yet :) )

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I think it is a lovely name, far better than calling her a name that every other child has Smile

Jessicahyde85 · 19/01/2015 21:17

Do you think so? :/

IHeartKingThistle · 19/01/2015 21:22

Yeah I pretty much hate it but I wouldn't listen to me Grin

squoosh · 19/01/2015 21:24

It sounds like the name of a massage parlour that offers extras.

Figster · 19/01/2015 21:25

Sorry don't like it and yup will spend her whole life spelling it for people and pronouncing it .

Reekypear · 19/01/2015 21:25

Woulda you like some amoura pasta ( In a dolmio type accent ).

LetticeKnollys · 19/01/2015 21:26

I think it sounds pretty, though if I heard it out loud I would guess the spelling to be 'Amora'.

lljkk · 19/01/2015 21:28

It's gonna inspire a lot of puns.

honeysucklejasmine · 19/01/2015 21:29

Maura, or indeed Moira, might be alternatives? Its nice, though I wouldn't use it myself due to potential spelling problems. My dad has a welsh name and told me once he purposefully chose "normal" English names for us because he didn't want us to experience a lifetime of correcting people.

MissWimpyDimple · 19/01/2015 21:30

No sorry it's terrible. Is it made up?

GiniCooper · 19/01/2015 21:31

Have to agree with squoosh on the massage parlour name, sorry.

fedupandfeelingold · 19/01/2015 21:32

Bluestocking · 19/01/2015 21:33

Awful. Massage parlour, happy endings, the lot.

Pole dancer name, sorry.

Becles · 19/01/2015 21:34

Avoid

Bluestocking · 19/01/2015 21:34

I think a Spanish name meaning love would be Amora, OP.

kelda · 19/01/2015 21:35

What about Amara?

mupperoon · 19/01/2015 21:36

But Spanish for love is amor. It's more like a tarted up French amour. Sounds American to me.

Pippidoeswhatshewants · 19/01/2015 21:36

It's not a Spanish name for love that I know. Love is amor in Spanish.

mupperoon · 19/01/2015 21:38

And if you go with Amora - that's a brand of mustard. Hmmm.
