Your surname was very similar to Moon? Think one similar sounding letter out?

Or can you think of other astral names?

I like Astrid but I don't love it like Luna.

We can't use a name beginning with C.

(I know I'm here a lot recently, I'm struggling to name this baby and I want her to have a name when she's born!)

Luna-? Yuk. You don't read Harry potter I take it. Drippy character.

isles7 · 15/01/2015 12:14

DD's middle name is Luna. I love it and wish I'd pushed more to have it as a first name.

lemisscared · 15/01/2015 12:15

greywackejones - i tend not to comment on the names that i don't like.

TheyLearnedFromBrian · 15/01/2015 12:17

I am really sorry but I'm here to tell you that I also know a child with BJ for two middle initials, and yes they have been teased! Reverse them?

Personally I think that X Jayne Barbara Munn is better - I don't like Jayne next to Munn at all - they're far too similar. And almost all the first names suggested sound better next to Jayne than they do to Barbara. Like Barbara lots though!

They are better reversed - sorry DP.

GloopMonster · 15/01/2015 12:18

Luna in Harry potter is a hippyish character, often teased by others for believing in strange things, but she also has brains, courage and resourcefulness, so don't let the above poster put you off...

Titsalinabumsquash · 15/01/2015 12:21

I'm a huge Potter fan and I thought Luna was great but each to their own. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to convince DP to go with it anyway.

I'll have a think about the Middle name thing Confused

Selene?

babyblabber · 15/01/2015 12:29

I don't think it goes with your surname, sorry. I'm Aldo struggling to find a name for our DD and only have 12 days left to find it.

Thea is gorgeous, Faye is nice too.

As for you DH not liking Jayne as s first middle name, surely he's rather do that than inflict BJ initials on his daughter? Put it to him like that! You defo have to use Jayne but he defo doesn't get to decide the order!

Thea Jayne Barbara Munn sounds great!

burgatroyd · 15/01/2015 12:29

Lumi?

squoosh · 15/01/2015 12:40

Faye Munn doesn't work at all, sounds too abrupt. You need a first name with at least two syllables. Luna fits this brief but I don't like it. Estelle/Thea/Lyra are all much nicer.

As far as the middle names go I don't they need to 'match' or be in the same style of the first name. I would reverse them to JB instead of BJ though.

Greencurtain · 15/01/2015 12:47

I like Luna but don't think it fits with Munn. The surname is short with one syllable and I would have a bigger first name to offset it.

Elizabeth Munn etc

Also something that doesn't flow into Munn. Luna Munn blends to something a bit like Aluminium iyswim.

Titsalinabumsquash · 15/01/2015 12:49

Thanks for all the input everyone, we'll have to think about it some more (and more and more and more..) 10 weeks to go until she's brought into the world (weather she likes it or not!) Smile

OP posts:
Greencurtain · 15/01/2015 12:50

I think Thea and Faye blend into the surname badly.

Sounding like Thiamon, Famun etc. People would always say "what?" when she said her name.

Titsalinabumsquash · 15/01/2015 12:53

Maybe we all need a new family surname Grin

geebie · 15/01/2015 12:53

My dream name for any DD2 who might come along is Nila, which means full moon in Tamil. I would probably spell it Neela though, to avoid the pronunciation Nyla. I love it Smile

Titsalinabumsquash · 15/01/2015 12:55

Another name I love is Ariadne, DP isn't as keen, he suggested Arriana but I'm not as keen on that.

It was easy with my others, as soon as we left the 20 week scan they were named before we got back to the car and that was that, I love all their names.
I just can't find a girls name that I love rather than just like iyswim.

funnyossity · 15/01/2015 12:57

Catherine or Elizabeth go well. Not what you are after though..

But the principle is end with a a consonant sound and more syllables /sound content (so for a boy James would work better than Tom despite both being 1 syllable the mzz in James lengthens the sound.)

Vivienne?

DashingRedhead · 15/01/2015 12:58

I absolutely love Artemis. Just fwiw OP.

squoosh · 15/01/2015 12:58

Estella Munn works well as Estella is long enough and frilly enough to offset the rather plain 'Munn'. No offence Munn clan, I'm sure you're a charming and attractive lot!

squoosh · 15/01/2015 13:01

Artemis is beautiful.

HerRoyalNotness · 15/01/2015 13:01

I love the name Luna and like the HP character too.

With your short, hard sounding last name, you need a longer, frillier name.

Seraphina
Ophelia
Persephone
Francesca
Elodie
Olivia
etc...

Although, with the middle name Barbara, there will be a conflict. Does Barbara have a middle name that might work better? Jayne is quite timeless and seems to work well with any name.

Titsalinabumsquash · 15/01/2015 13:07

Barbara is my grandmothers name, we also chose it because MIL is Elaine and obviously we can't have Jayne Elaine or vice versa but her middle name is Barbara so it fits.

Our son has both our fathers names as his middle names, we won't be having anymore children and I'd like to have both our mothers in there somewhere.

DS is Johnathan Kenneth Nicholas, we have 2 sons from my previous relationship who are Jack Christian Charles and Harry Lee Edward. We're not adverse to a longer name at all, it's just a case of finding the right one.

I'm not at all keen on Stella or its variants, sorry if anyone has a DD with that name.

There are a lot of Elizabeth variants in the family already.

What a great list from rivertam!

I vote for Astrid Jayne Barbara Munn.

YonicSleighdriver · 15/01/2015 13:14

Andromeda nn Anna?
Diana goddes of the moon

Thea and Faye are nice.

Luna Munn is two lots of "un" though pronounced differently.

funnyossity · 15/01/2015 13:15

With Barbara as a first name you might be an early adopter of the next wave of names. It flows well with your surname.
