It's one better than Prince, I suppose. Grin

Pancakeflipper · 25/11/2014 20:38

I went to school with a Rex and by the times we hit our teens he was forever known (and still is) known as Sexy Rexy because we were that immature.

He had the charisma and generous humour to not let it bother him.

Other people will say it's a dogs name like Shep.

NewEraNewMindset · 25/11/2014 20:38

Hmmm just Rex on it's own or as a nickname?

Cocolate · 25/11/2014 20:39

I adore it - hence I know there was a thread on this a few weeks ago - it seemed about 50/50 divide but I say just go for it (because I didn't and am not willing to through another 9 months just for the chance to have a Rex!!)

Luciferbox · 25/11/2014 20:40

I know a Rex in his 60's. It really suits him.

lemisscared · 25/11/2014 20:42

I had a dog called rex

mymummademelistentoshitmusic · 25/11/2014 20:46

Dog.

TheNewClassic · 25/11/2014 20:47

I know a rex. he's a lovely dog.

Marcipex · 25/11/2014 21:16

Rex is great. You'll be inundated with toy dinosaurs too.

Bowlersarm · 25/11/2014 21:19

Ooh don't be so rude with the 'discuss' instruction.

Asidefrom that Rex is a cool name, despite what pp say. I know a cool teen Rex and a 4 year old. I think it'll become more popular. It's simple, not commonr, but not unknown; it's what people want from a baby name.

Lunastarfish · 25/11/2014 21:30

Rex is a cool name

teenagetantrums · 25/11/2014 21:32

its a dogs name.

NickiFury · 25/11/2014 21:35

I've always liked this name. It means "King" I think. But it also used as a name for a Fox is some rural areas. Or used to be. Don't ask me to provide a source for that but someone told me that when I was a child and I often heard it used that way.

ArthurShappey · 25/11/2014 21:36

I know a Rex and he's very handsome. Love the name!

Rustyzilla · 25/11/2014 22:14

I love it. It is the name of my car Grin

ArchangelGallic · 25/11/2014 22:20

That was my thread. Grin

Outcome was the understanding that it's a marmite name.
It also makes people think of dogs although few could actually claim to know a dog named Rex.

It's still on our list though.
Someone said it sounded suave and fearless which I rather liked.

FishCanFly · 26/11/2014 07:07

Dog name

babyblabber · 26/11/2014 07:29

Cool name

Alisvolatpropiis · 26/11/2014 07:32

Love it.

SavoyCabbage · 26/11/2014 07:35

When I was a nanny one of my charges had a friend called Rex and I avoided taking him to the park as I knew I might not be able to yell 'Rex!!!!!' without laughing.

I like it though.

squoosh · 26/11/2014 11:13

It's one of my very favourite names.

Definitely has a canine connection but all the dogs called Rex are in the park in the sky, dogs these days all seem to be called Max and Poppy or Charlie and Lily.

curiousgeorgie · 26/11/2014 11:15

I think Fearne Cotton has a son called Rex?

Castlemilk · 26/11/2014 11:23

No, don't like, slimy lothario in a cheap suit sometime in 1976

SomethingAboutNothing · 26/11/2014 11:26

I love it, DH didn't so it wasn't allowed on our shortlist.

If you like it, go for it.

shakemysilliesout · 26/11/2014 11:47

There is a newish Simpsons episode where a cool family from Portland move next door, they have a child called Rex, short for tyrannosaurus Rex- they use his full name when angry. So I guess it's a cool name!
