I'm in the "Love formal, "proper" names but end up using slightly unusual, funky nicknames day to day" camp!

So,

With that in mind, can you think of any "proper" names for Essie?

Esther is the one I would think of

I used to know a girl called Essi, I think it was a Finnish name (could be wrong).

Essie sounds like a make of wood stove. Or is it a cooker? Esse, anyway.

I know of an Essie who is a Sarah Elizabeth. So SE.

Essie has always felt like it's made up of initials - like the poster who mentioned Sarah Elizabeth. Could be any names though!

It is also a make of nail polish.

But, if you like it, why not just use it, instead of as a nickname?

Esabel? It's a very old Scots form of Isobel dating back to the 1670s.

We have a tortoise called Esmerelda. I call her Essie.
