Cartoon dog or filmstar?

Really can't decide if this is dreadful or tastefully unusual.

I googled it and there's lots of conversations along the lines of "does it sound like a dog".

Got plenty of time to mull it over.

Love it - wanted it for DS but DH objected. DS (now 5) says he would love to be called Rex.
(PS am in rural ireland and know no canine Rex's. The only Rex I've heard of is Rex Harrison)

I've never met an Irish dog called Rex. Will sound out the relatives in the West and see what they say.

We have a Rex in our family and it really suits him. It is a marmite name so if you'll always have people saying they either love it or hate it. If you like it go for it. It's individual, a bit different without being too out there. I love it and don't think it's doggy at all.

They are all called Oscar, Jake, Sam, Charlie.

Rex was fashionable years and years ago. Along with proper dog names, like Patch, Blackie, Major and Prince.

I bloody love Rex. On the list for DC3 although DH keeps trying to scratch it off!
