I saw this one today. Lileigh.

Not saying it's good or bad. Never seen it before that's all.

How is La-a pn?

Ladasha Confused

Pipbin · 18/10/2014 09:53

Kayden isn't a name in my opinion anyway, however it's spelt.

Only1scoop · 18/10/2014 09:54

Uggghh some of these 'names' are making me cringe Confused

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 18/10/2014 09:54

Kadaiden? Confused

spidey66 · 18/10/2014 09:59

My name is Anne. Yes it's the less common spelling, but it's not wrong, or a new spelling. I come from an Irish Catholic background and St Anne was the mother of Mary, so this is where it comes from.

I'm not one for 'interesting' spellings of names but I take umbrage at the pp who suggested it looks wrong.

FruitCakey · 18/10/2014 10:04

Not sure if this has already been said as I can't be bothered to RTT, but I have recently seen the name Ayprill. Yikes!

MrsHathaway · 18/10/2014 10:16

Nevaeh is bad enough, but you also see Neveah pn nuhVAYuh and the parent says "it's heaven spelt backwards". No, it's haeven spelt backwards.

cruikshank · 18/10/2014 10:22

The best one I've come across is a surname used as a first name but with a different spelling. So, they took the surname Traynor, gave it as a first name but spelt it ...

Trainer.

I swear to fucking God. Fucking 'Trainer'. I mean, why not just call your kid 'Shoe' and have done with it.

mrsmilkymoo · 18/10/2014 10:30

I know a Khris, his father is Chris, and his sister Karmyn.

m0therofdragons · 18/10/2014 10:38

Ryleegh - dd went to nursery with him and wrote his name. I praised her for her writing then showed her how to spell the name (she was just 4) and she said no she'd spelt it right. I checked the peg at nursery and yep she was right.
I hate it. My friend had a Christmas baby and named her Holly which I thought was lovely until she said it's spelt Hollie. Just why?

m0therofdragons · 18/10/2014 10:40

Oh fruitcakey, yes saw a friend of a friend did that last week. Ayprill wtaf?

Spartak · 18/10/2014 10:46

I know of a Rox-c. Why would anyone do that to a child?

Szeli · 18/10/2014 11:00

heard of a b.aley too (no dot) :/

i agree mispellings arent interesting - they make the family look illiterate

i hate mykylaa and the ilk

Itsfab · 18/10/2014 11:11

I read about a child who was allowed to name his baby sister and he picked Laa Laa. Teletubby fan, no doubt. And I read on here about someone whose son is Kayne - after Kanye West Grin.

DH and I were very careful when naming our children. Proper names, spelt the correct way, nothing spelt from their three initials and the one who has the potential to be shortened is not - except at school which drives me nuts when they call to talk to me as it doesn't sound like they are talking about my child Confused.

Dinesaur · 18/10/2014 11:38

When naming dd (Phoebe) DH thought it was spelt Feebee bless him! Soon put him straight.

Have recently seen the spelling Phoebie which looks all kinds of wrong.

Pipbin · 18/10/2014 12:43

Jamie and Jaime. I've always known it to be Jamie, am I wrong? (I guess really neither of them are real name.

I knew a child with the middle name Martian, should have been Martin but it was misspelled by the parents while filling out the registration forms.

Floggingmolly · 18/10/2014 12:45

Martian Shock!!

ShadowStar · 18/10/2014 13:56

I'd be struggling to keep a straight face if I came across a Martian Grin

Szeli · 18/10/2014 14:26

Jamie is a boy, Jaime is a girl

Pipbin · 21/10/2014 22:50

Ladies I realise I have lied to you. I said I knew an actual La-a. Well I saw a colleague from the school a couple of days ago and mentioned La-a and she corrected me. It wasn't La-a but J-a.

sooperdooper · 21/10/2014 23:03

Surely some of these must be people who just didn't know how to spell the name rather than intentional?? Hmm

tuckingfits · 21/10/2014 23:50

I know a Marcous (Marcus) and a Jamye (female, Jamie or Jaime). Marcous is so wrong.

NadiaWadia · 22/10/2014 00:19

spidey of course Anne is not wrong and I think that's well-known. Both Anne and Ann have been used in this country for hundreds of years (Anne Boleyn, Anne Hathaway (Shakespeare's wife, not the film star!), Queen Anne, etc. In fact, your version, Anne ,is probably more popular and I do think it looks classier than Ann.

Some names do have more than one accepted spelling, and have done for a long time, Katherine/Katharine/Catherine/Kathryn etc. being a prime example.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 22/10/2014 00:41

The 'best' ones I know of are Mayzii and Cortnee.

Also Emma-Leigh, although that's more of a pain to explain to everyone than actually wrong!

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 22/10/2014 00:41

Oh, and Harvee.
