I saw this one today. Lileigh.

Not saying it's good or bad. Never seen it before that's all.

OP posts:

HerbieRidesAgain · 12/10/2014 01:01

I had to look, look and look again before figuring out the op spelling was an alternative to Lily.
Dylon reminds me of Dyson Hmm
I don't understand the desperate need to spell differently, if it is pronounced the same it doesn't make it any less popular, or change what the name actually is

LemonDrizzleTwunt · 12/10/2014 01:16

La-ia, pronounced Ladashia.

I mean, WTF?

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 12/10/2014 01:22

Hi Marmite. Dylon looks like Die-lon to me, as in Die-son (Dyson) not Dylan. Some names just looks daft spelled different.

ShadowStar · 12/10/2014 01:27

Dylon looks like it should rhyme with nylon.

moxon · 12/10/2014 01:49

I dislike Siouxie. I mean, it's not as if you write Siouxan, is it!? Hmm

AlleyCat11 · 12/10/2014 02:05

Isn't Dylon the name of a fabric dye?
Jaxon. Surely eveyone will think Jackson first?
Where did names like Kayleigh & Jayden / Kaiden come from? Somebody must have started it...
In my eyes the name is Claire, not Clare. That name always reminds me of The Breakfast Club.
Molly / Polly names ending in i or ie - just no.

ShadowStar · 12/10/2014 05:28

The band Marillon had a top 10 single called Kayleigh in 1985. That name was almost unheard of before them.

TropicalHorse · 12/10/2014 05:31

I know a kid called Molliy. Seriously.

ShadowStar · 12/10/2014 05:37

I'm struggling not to read Molliy as Moi-ly... it just looks so wrong to have the i and y next to each other like that!

KoalaDownUnder · 12/10/2014 05:43

Dear God, some of these are atrocious.

I know someone who just named her daughter Jorja. Confused

BitchyHen · 12/10/2014 06:06

I know a Leigha (Leah) I didn't really like the name to start with but it's grown on me.

MagratsHair · 12/10/2014 06:17

Vyvian brings the Young Ones to mind with that spelling.

This is a thread for our old primary school! There was a:

Destyny
Justice (not misspelt just odd
Sofy
Ellee
Iggi
Mantas

eurochick · 12/10/2014 06:21

Claire is not a weird spelling. As someone else said, it's the French form. Clare is the Germanic form. Clair(e) is the French word for light.

speak2me · 12/10/2014 07:47

Recently seen a Nataleigh. No no no!! Just looks wrong to me.

grufallosfriend · 12/10/2014 08:19

Cathryn instead of Katharine.

Icedfinger · 12/10/2014 08:28

I've recently seen:
Melony
Kamron
Jak

NO!!

devoncreamtea · 12/10/2014 08:58

Different, but I know a grown up called Isla - pronounced 'Iz-ler'

What a thing to have to explain your whole life!!

SanityClause · 12/10/2014 09:03

The La-a thing is an urban myth.

SanityClause · 12/10/2014 09:05

There is a character in a John Irving book called Melony, Icedfinger.

SanityClause · 12/10/2014 09:10

Surely Siouxsie is an allusion to Siouxsie and the Banshees?

Siouxsie Sioux's real name was Susan, so it was a nickname taken from that.

AntiDistinctlyMinty · 12/10/2014 09:13

I went to school with a Reinebeau. Every time we got new teachers it was "Yes my name's rainbow, no you don't spell it like that". Poor thing...

There was also a Kayleieh, a Feebee, and a Jemagh [puzzled]

MollyBdenum · 12/10/2014 09:18

Cathryn is ok.

MollyBdenum · 12/10/2014 09:20

And I've always liked the spelling Alys even though it's been totally replaced with Alice.

JoanJettPack · 12/10/2014 09:25

I know someone with a dd called Porchia.

She pronounces it Por-sha, but I deliberately pronounce it Porch-ee-ah because that is what it says, imo. And I can't stand her mum and enjoy pissing her off Grin

moxon · 12/10/2014 09:29

sanity which is a reference to the Sioux native american group, which has very little to do with susan in itself. So silly.
