Monty...

We love Monty but there aren't any where we are and we worry it might be seen as a bit pet-namey? Neither of us really like Montgomery or Montague.

What do you think? Any similar names? We like Jack and Rory but they are far too popular around here now. We also like Jasper but we have an -er surname and don't like the rhyming...

Any thoughts would be welcome!

Sophronia · 06/10/2014 14:35

PenguinsIsSleepDeprived · 06/10/2014 16:30

I know two little Monty's. Both Montgomery. I think it's fab.Smile

WittyUsername102 · 06/10/2014 16:44

I know a Monty short for Montana, but I don't think it'd work as well for a boy.

cherrybombxo · 06/10/2014 17:20

Monty Python. Always.

Also, my uncle had a giant, slobbery dog called Monty.

No.

moxon · 06/10/2014 17:29

I like Monty. Also try Mungo and Cosmo?

devoncreamtea · 07/10/2014 08:36

I love it!

fishfingerSarnies · 07/10/2014 08:37

I like it, could be short for Bartholomew.

Kaekae · 07/10/2014 21:54

I love it and I really wanted it but so many people put me off going for it. :(

daholster · 08/10/2014 08:23

That's what I feel kaekae . But I can't find any decent alternatives I like!

Probably being dense but how could Monty be short for Bartholemew? I can't see any way you can make a connection

Castlemilk · 08/10/2014 11:52

I like it, but think it's probably the uber try-hard cool parent choice at the mo.

Marcipex · 08/10/2014 13:17

I know an adorable Monty at nursery, so I really like it.

exWifebeginsat40 · 08/10/2014 13:20

i love it. it's fab. who could resist a Monty?

daholster · 08/10/2014 19:09

castlemilk that made me laugh!!! We wanted to use Monty for dc1 but we chickened out... We were going to go for Rory (now super popular!) but then dc1 was a girl!!! I wonder if we will be brave enough this time... If it's a boy, of course! I don't see it as a girl's name.

We have a 6 year old one - he is awesome. My great grandfather was also called Monty (Montgomery).

Highlandbird · 08/10/2014 19:13

I love it! Grin Really don't like mungo and Cosmo suggested up thread though....

Lannypanny123 · 09/10/2014 07:01

I have a 10 year old monty and its a name that seems to go well age well with them, he is now a long haired FIFA playing stroppy boy and it suits him just as much as much as when he was a cute little toddler lol xxx

fizzymittens · 09/10/2014 21:44

Monty is a brilliant name! But surely his full name would be Montague and then you would shorten it?

SeptemberBabies · 09/10/2014 21:45

Love Monty

Also Jonty

fizzymittens · 09/10/2014 21:47

Yes Jonty is great too.

fizzymittens · 09/10/2014 21:47

As long as the child is called Jonathan of course - not just by itself.
