Anyone know or have an Austin?

Really like the name Austin but never met any in RL!

Just wondering what general opinions are?

Is this for somewhere in the UK? If so, I'd say it's far too American. The same way that I LOVE the name Hunter and my mum liked August for my brother, both of those are too American and sound really out of place here.

I like Austin a lot but I think it could sound really affected and strange here.

I know a baby Austin in the UK and a 15 year old Austin in America.

Al lot of names popular in America end up moving across the Atlantic. I think it'd work fine.

I know an Austin. People here seem to like it. I don't think it sounds American, if anything to me it sounds a little old fashioned! (Then again, I am ancient so remember a lot of names from the far distant past...) He really suits it and now I really like the name (he is a year old.)

I really like the name Austin but like you, I don't actually know of any. Except for the rugby player (and car!) Austin Healey.

I wouldn't find it too American myself - probably because I know of the British rugby player and also the British cars Austin Healey/Austin Rover.

Hmm, just me then! I must have let people beat me down too much about the name Hunter, I assume that no American name works here!

Cherry if my dd was a boy she probably would have been a Hunter (my DP is a massive Hunter S Thompson fan )

I'm in the UK (North west) and know of two little boys called Austin. One is almost 2 and the other is around 3 or 4.

Felix I'm glad to hear that, anyone I've mentioned the name to has been a bit about it. But then they have also been like that about Struan, which is my number one choice for a boy and that couldn't be anymore Scottish!

I know an Austyn

I teach a 9 year old Austin. He's gorgeous.

I know one who'd be about 14 now. It's OK, but I don't think it suits around where I live, as I grew up overshadowed by the Austin car works, and it's a bit like calling someone Audi, or BMW or Mecedes, or Jaguar, for me.

I used to work with an Austin. Top guy he was. Only positive thoughts on that name.

There is one in my post natal baby group. So just a couple of months old. I think is quite cute but I wouldn't have considered it for DS.

Don't know one, but not really a fan. Very American, and no warmth to it really. Like a lot of other people, I would think of the car, and think it a bit unappealing as a name.

I know a 37 year old Austin in the UK. I quite like the name.

My Grandad was Austin and I know a ten year old Austen.

It is ds's middle name after my grandad. Only once has someone mentioned Steve Austin the Bionic Man.

My nieces Stepson is called Austin and he is six. It really suits him
