Tabitha - It's my DN's name :)

CordeliaClementine · 18/09/2014 13:18

Tabitha, brilliant name!

UriGeller · 18/09/2014 13:18

Tabitha.

Boobsofsteel · 18/09/2014 13:19

Both lovely

manicinsomniac · 18/09/2014 14:12

I love Georgie but only as a nn for Georgina.

Not keen on Tabitha

grufallosfriend · 18/09/2014 14:48

Georgie is cute. I'd also use Georgina as full name.

Middleagedmotheroftwo · 18/09/2014 14:49

Georgie isn't a name, so would reject on those grounds. Georgia or Georgina would be fine.
I like Tabitha too
not much help

grufallosfriend · 18/09/2014 14:50

Anything can be a name!

ditavonteesed · 18/09/2014 14:51

Tabitha (my dd1)

Middleagedmotheroftwo · 18/09/2014 15:07

Anything can be used as a name. Doesn't mean it IS a name.

fairyteepee · 18/09/2014 15:47

never heard someone say Georgie isn't a proper name before

Georgie is generally used as a nickname for either Georgia or Georgina. It doesn't mean you can't use it as a forename in the same way you can name your son Tom and it not be short for Thomas but the origin of Tom is as a nickname for Thomas.

If you want to use Georgie I would tend to go for one of the "full" names and use Georgie as a family nickname.

Sophronia · 18/09/2014 16:30

Tabitha

Babetti · 18/09/2014 16:34

Tabitha reminds me of Bewitched! Georgie is lovely.

fairyteepee · 18/09/2014 16:51

Well i already have a Tilly (not short for anything) so i think Georgie would fit better than a full name, so to speak.

AWhistlingWoman · 18/09/2014 16:53

Georgie. But it was a very close run as I really like Tabitha too

minipie · 18/09/2014 16:53

Georgie is lovely - I'd use Georgia on the birth cert though.

Tabitha is sweet but think it's a having a bit of a "moment" right now and so might date?

Gemerama82 · 18/09/2014 17:03

Georgia or Georgiana with nn Georgie. Not keen on Tabitha.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 18/09/2014 17:03

I actually agree with you OP. Tilly and Georgie are nice together. Tabitha and Tilly sound a bit odd together. Plus having the same first initial your sister is a bit annoying (voice of experience on that one!). Lots of letter address to Miss T Surname...

Tilly was originally a nickname for Matilda by they way but is popular as a forename in it's own right now.

Gemerama82 · 18/09/2014 17:04

The only Tabitha I knew in RL was nn Tab. Which I believe means cigarette 'oop north'. Not a great nn...

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 18/09/2014 17:06

Tab is a cigarette end and Tabby is a cat. It is a pretty name though.

MargotLovedTom · 18/09/2014 17:15

Georgie.

ditavonteesed · 18/09/2014 17:31

the reason I should never post on these threads. lesson learned. Tabi is not a cat she is my dd, sometimes she is also tab again not a cig end but my dd.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 18/09/2014 17:35

Sorry Dita. It is my niece's name as I said up thread and I do think it's a very pretty name. I was was just trying to work through the pros and cons for someone who hasn't yet settled on a name Thanks

Gemerama82 · 18/09/2014 17:38

sorry dita didn't mean to upset you.

I am sure you must have been aware of the potential ciggy and cat connections when you chose the name, but that you decided it's a name you love and it doesn't bother you. I was just saying that for me, that connection would put me off.

It's always different when you know someone that actually has that particular name. I've disliked many a name and ended up liking it because a friend has called their child that or I meet a nice person by that name...works the other way round too!
