Thoughts on Regan??

As a potential sister for Bethany.

I have 2 months to go and husband and I still can't agree on a girls name.

I love Rosie, he hates it.

Regan just came up on a film and he likes. Unsure what I think!

Thoughts?

Would probably be Regan Lea (pronounced Lee)

I know a Regan, she's lovely, so I think it's a lovely name. Pronounced ''Ree-gan'' rather than ''Ray-gan''.

Regan, although less egocentric and wicked than her sister Goneril, manipulated others into torture for her own gain. Regan ordering Cornwall to pluck out Gloucester's other eye springs to mind - yuck!

Plus you have the Exorcist connotations AND Ronald Reagan...

The reason my husband doesn't like Rosie is his inexplicable hate for any names involving flowers. Rosie apparently sounds too much like Rose.

I was set on Rosanna Lea which I thought we could shorten to Rosie but he was having none of it :(

If it was a name with a really popular, current reference that the majority of our friends and family would instantly think of... that would be offputting.

Thankfully the vast majority of those people are unfamiliar with Shakespearean literature so that's why I'm not too worried!

I once had a total workplace pash on a beautiful 19-year-old Canadian boy called Regan (he looked like Christian Slater)(this was 20-odd years ago when CS was beautiful)

It is Ronald Reagan so not the same but I thought it was a boys name so I would say no.

Please don't call your dd Rosie Lea. It's Cockney rhyming slang for a cup of tea. There's also Gypsy Rose Lee, famous American burlesque dancer.

Thanks but I'm not going over the whole Rosie Lea debate again... was a 6 pager!

I ended up with Rosanna Lea as a compromise. Lea is a middle name not double barrelled so the reference doesn't worry me too much anyway. More to the point husband still didn't like it!
