AIBU to still like my trashy baby name, and regret not using it?

Indigo.

There. I said it.

People told me I liked it only because I was pregnant and hormonal. No-one else liked it. Then, DD was born and was a bit of a shock as we thought we'd have a DS (no scan info, just 'I was carrying that way' and so many people said it that it became accepted). I still liked Indigo but no-one liked it and I / the world blamed it on hormones.

DD is nearly 1 and I STILL like it. But she has an 'I' name so I can't call the 'next one' Indigo.

Please tell me it's a trashy name, and to get over it. I still pang!

I'm normally quite a mainstream traditional kinda person, but I actually quite like Indigo for a boy. Smile

BarryGoosey · 12/09/2014 23:42

How similar is your current DD's name to Indigo?

juniper44 · 12/09/2014 23:42

Oh god. I'm so not amber necklace shit. Thanks NameChanger!

Ah sorry I like it! Why can't you have two I names? (Having said that I remember vetoing any name for DD2 that began with the same letter as DD1, but I think that was because it was also the same letter as exp) if it doesn't sound similar, and you like it, use it!

squeak2392 · 12/09/2014 23:44

It's a bit out there... but I can't say I think it's trashy, sorry :P

If it helps, I don't think it would be unusable for DD2, so long as DD1 isn't India :P

RiverTam · 12/09/2014 23:46

I don't think it's trashy, jut a bit daft!

I've always really liked the name Jason, which back in the day was a real 'chav' name.

BigusBumus · 12/09/2014 23:47

Indigo is not just a boys name. There's a 9 year old girl in our village called that with very musical/arty parents. Inigo on the other hand is just a boys name and completely fabulous. Gutted I didn't call one of my 3 boys it.

Patrickstarisabadbellend · 12/09/2014 23:47

Nigel is the best name ever!

momnipotent · 12/09/2014 23:49

I always wanted a little boy with Blue as a middle name.

HauntedNoddyCar · 12/09/2014 23:51

Wasn't there a whole Indigo child thing a while back. Special snowflakes who can't be expected to live by little people's rules?

Inigo after the landscaper at a push but not Indigo.

HauntedNoddyCar · 12/09/2014 23:53

Or ignore me and use the links as you did.Blush

minkah · 12/09/2014 23:55

Indigo is a nice name. Indie is very nice as an abbreviation, too.

Latte, whenever I've suggested it to people, they've suggested Violet as an alternative, as if it's a perfectly acceptable name.

Scarlet, Ruby, Saffron, Jade, Amber, Ash, Hazel and Lavender are all colours and mainstream(ish)

I don't like any of those either Grin and you did ask to be put off it Grin

(Actually, I love Scarlet and Ruby, but only because they are two special little girls to me, I wouldn't have chosen the names - no, they aren't my DD's!)

LatteLoverLovesLattes · 13/09/2014 00:06

I don't do seasons, weather, countries or animals either Grin No, not even Pengwin.

LatteLoverLovesLattes · 13/09/2014 00:06

Or fruit, cars or diseases.

juniper44 · 13/09/2014 00:10

Oh shit. Latte, are you Hopkins?
